Chapter 8

"It's finally summer break!" I squealed as I hugged Madie and she hugged me back.

"Time to party!" Madie said and I laughed.

"What are you gonna be up to?" I asked her.

"I'll be in Chicago for a little bit, then I'm going to the Bahamas then Europe for a little. What about you?" Madie asked me as we got to my locker.

"I'll be in Chicago for most of the time but once my parents get back into town they'll probably take Nat, Will, and I somewhere. Maybe the baby will be here before we go out on a vacation." I said

"I can't believe you'll be an aunt before you graduate." Madie said and I nodded.

"I know, hopefully baby Cole will be here soon." I said and she smiled.

"Oh Jordan is taking me out for lunch, I'll text you later." Madie said then Raj off and I smiled.

"Shelby!" Nathan said and hugged me and I smiled then hugged him.

"Finally, it's summer!" I said and he smiled then kissed my cheek.

"Oh, your coming with us to Florida right?" Nathan asked me as I grabbed my final supplies from my locker.

"Um, what Florida trip?" I asked him and he looked at me like I was crazy.

"The one we're going on tomorrow?" Nathan said and I looked at him wide eyed.

"I was never told this." I explained as I shoved supplies into my bag.

"Mom and dad will probably tell you about it when we get home then." Nate said and I nodded.

"What will they tell her?" Trey asked as he reached us.

"The Florida road trip." Nathan said and he nodded.

"Oh Sienna is coming with us this year by the way." Trey said and I didn't want to go anymore.

"Sienna May? The mayor's daughter?" Nathan asked.

"Yeah dude, if you and Eric both bring your girlfriends then why can't I?" Trey asked and I think Nathan and I both wanted to face palm.

"Well, Nicole is definitely going because she's been going for 3 years straight and also mom loves Nicole. But also Shelby is staying with us so I think she's forced to go."

"Whatever, I gotta go talk to Sienna. I'll talk to you guys later." Trey said then walked off.

"Wow, I actually kind of talked to Trey. That's a big first." I said and Nathan smiled then hugged me.

"Come on, let's get home." Nathan said and I smiled and shut my locker then we walked down the hall.

"How's all that packing going?" Nathan asked me as he hopped up onto my bed.

"It's hard to pack for a 5 day vacation for a girl. I'm just trying to pack as light as I can." I said and he rolled his eyes then kissed my cheek.

"Do you know what's up with Derek lately? He's been giggling while texting and he's been Skyping a lot with his headphones in." Nathan said and I smirked.

"I don't know." I said with a shrug.

"You do know something about Derek! Tell me!" Nathan said and I shrugged and dug through my dresser.

"What is it?" Nathan asked me as he started tickling me and I couldn't stop laughing.

"Okay! Okay. I. Will. Tell. You!" I said in between laughs.

"What is it?" Nathan asked and I got up and ran out of the room and I got to the living room but got tackled onto the couch.

"Okay you got me! I'll tell you!" I said and he helped me up and put me in his lap and wrapped his arms around my waist to make sure I didn't run.

"Derek is dating a girl named Bailey, he was gonna tell all of us at your party but he never had the time to. So that's why he's been sneaking around with her. I hope he tells all of us soon." I said and he sighed and put his head on my shoulder.

"How do you know this?" Nathan asked me.

"I heard them talking while I was getting them for the photo. I bet he will come around." I said and he nodded.

"Maybe I can ask him to bring Bailey to our Florida trip. But I guess we have to ask Marcy and Matt first." I said and he nodded.

"I'll talk to mom about it, you can talk to Derek about Bailey." Nathan said and I nodded and got up from his lap.

"Plan Bailey and Derek is a go." I said and kissed his cheek then ran up to Derek's room.

"Okay, I'll talk to you later Bai. I have to go hang out with my family but I'll try to meet up with you before my trip to Florida." I heard Derek say and I smiled.

"Yeah, I'll talk to you soon. Okay bye." Derek said then I waited a few seconds then knocked on his door.

"Hey Derek, it's Shelby. Can I come in for a second?" I asked.

"Yeah, come on in!" Derek said and I opened his door and smiled to see him smiling like crazy.

"What are you up to bud?" I asked him and he smiled.

"I've just been talking to a few people, it's nothing too special. What are you up to?" Derek asked.

"Just trying to talk to you and get to know you more. Can I ask you a few questions that I'm curious about?" I asked him and he nodded.

"Favorite color?"

"Green."

"Favorite food?"

"Anything Italian."

"Favorite girlfriend?"

"Bailey."

"Ahh, I knew it!" I said and he realized then covered his mouth and I smiled.

"Ahh shiz." Derek said and I smiled in excitement.

"Haha! Now invite her over." I said and his eyes went wide.

"What?" Derek asked me.

"Invite her over to introduce her." I said and he sighed and picked up his phone.

"Okay so we have Ben, Derek, Bailey, Trey, Sierra, Nathan, Shelby, Luke, Nicole, and Eric.

"It's Sienna." Sienna said.

"Sorry honey, I've never met you and I don't get names down that easily. Just hop into the limo." Marcy said and she nodded then got in.

"Don't worry Sienna, she'll get your name down." Trey said and she gave him a tight smile and he kissed her forehead.

"So here are seat situations, mommy and daddy, Derek and Bailey, Nathan and Shelby, Luke and Ben, Eric and Nicole." Marcy said and we all nodded and then Nathan wrapped his arm around my waist.

"Alright, let's go Kenny." Matt said and then the limo started moving.

"Are we riding in first class like last year?" Trey asked.

"Only a few of us are actually. Those people are Nicole and Eric, Shelby and Nathan, Ben and Luke, and then your father and I." Marcy said I couldn't help but smile.

"Sorry other kiddos, they only had a certain amount of seats." Matt said and I smiled at the fact of getting to be in 1st class.
