Chapter 4

"Thanks for letting me stay over for the night. I couldn't go to Natalie's house because she's in Kansas City and I didn't want to stay at my house because they would know I was there." I said as I put my suitcase on Madie's bed.

"Hey, you're my best friend and if you need somewhere to stay I got you covered." Madie said and I hugged her.

"Thank you Madie, I just can't face them after I said all that to Matt's parents..." I said and she nodded.

"You can stay in the guest bedroom, I bet my parents don't care since they're literally your parents." Madie said and I nodded and rolled my suitcase and luggage to the room next door.

"I'm so glad that I don't have school tomorrow which means no facing them!" I said and Madie smiled at my happiness and hugged me.

"We need to have a girls day tomorrow! We haven't had one since last month and that's not acceptable. So we should go to the mall then grab lunch and then get our nails done." Madie said and I nodded and she jumped up and down in excitement.

"I'll let you get some rest, I'll see you tomorrow at 9 in the morning sharp." Madie said then left the room and sighed. I sat down on the chair of the vanity and grabbed my makeup wipes and started wiping off my makeup.

I got ready for bed and I checked my phone to see multiple text messages from the Parkston boys and I checked them but didn't reply and then it revealed my back round.

It was a picture of Ben, Derek, Nathan, Luke and I. I'm gonna miss them.

"Shelby, run into Aero now." Madie said and I looked up to see Luke, Nathan and Trey there and I sprinted into the store.

MADIE'S POV-
"You're Madie right?" Nathan asked me and I nodded.

"That would be me, now what can I do for you?" I asked them.

"Well, do you know where Shelby is?" Luke asked me and I shook my head.

"She said she was staying with someone she was close with. So I think she's fine, but I'll try to get a hold of her." I said to them.

"Guys, see she's fine. Now stop stressing and worrying like little girls." Trey said all grumpy, I guess it's that time of month for him.

"Can you tell her to call me or text me if you see her?" Nathan asked completely ignoring Trey.

"Sure, well I have to get some shopping done so I should go. I'll try and get a hold of her." I said and then scurried off into Aero to look for Shelby.

"Madie!" Shelby said and I ran to her.

"They told me to tell you if I saw you to text them or call." I explained and she nodded.

"We need to get out of here before I get caught at all." I nodded at what Shelby said and we walked as quickly as we could out of the mall.

I was laying on my bed finishing up some Biology homework and I got a voice mail from Luke.

"Hey Shelby, so ummm... I just wanted to tell you that Nathan got in a car accident on the way home from dropping Derek off. Derek is fine but Nathan is pretty hurt but I wanted to call and let you know. If you have time then come to Saint Luke's hospital to come see him. Floor 5 room 54. Thanks." Luke said and I dipped my phone and hurry and slipped on my flip flops and then ran out the door.

"Pick up, pick up." I mumbled as I put my phone to my ear.

"Shelby?" I heard Luke ask.

"What's going on?" I asked as I started my car and put him on speaker.

"Nathan was driving Derek to art class and while he was driving back home and he got into an accident. He's in surgery right now, I don't know all the details but if you can come you should." Luke told me.

"Okay, I'm on my way. Just text me if there's any update because it's gonna take me awhile to get there due to traffic." I said as I looked at the clock.

6:40, well shit this is rush hour time...

"Hey don't worry and don't drive all reckless. I'll call you if I hear anything from the doctor." Luke said.

"Okay thanks Luke, I'll talk to you in a bit." I said then hung up and started driving to the hospital.

Right when I got on the highway I got stuck in traffic. Stupid rush hour.

It took me an hour or so to get to the hospital and I immediately called Luke to find out where they were and I rushed to the waiting room.

The first person who saw me was Ben and he ran up to me and hugged me. I felt the nervous energy from him and I hugged him tight.

"Shelby! We were worried sick about you. Where have you been?" Marcy asked me.

"I was staying with a friend for a couple days." I explained to them.

"Nathan is in surgery right now so just sit down." Luke said and I sat next to him and Ben crawled into my lap.

"My brother Eric is on his way here by the way, he knows your here but he's gonna introduce himself and all that." Luke explained and I nodded.

We waited a few minutes and then a tall man walked in with his hand holding a gorgeous girl's hand.

"Is he okay?" Eric said I'm guessing he's Eric.

"Eric he's in surgery right now, no need to flip a table. Hello Nicole." Marcy said and hugged Nicole.

"Hi Marcy, how long have you been here waiting?" Nicole asked.

"An hour and a half, Eric and Nicole this is Shelby. She's the one that's staying with us for a couple months." Marcy said and I shook their hands.

"Shelby this is my older brother Eric and his girlfriend." Luke said and I nodded.

"When's the surgery gonna be over?" Eric asked.

"We're not sure yet, that why everyone is sitting here and waiting." Matt said and the two sat down.

Nathan, please be okay.
