Chapter 6

I looked in the mirror one last time and added a layer of my favorite lip gloss and looked at my outfit.

It was high waisted white jean shorts with a brown leather belt with a gold buckle. Then I had a white loose crop top that I loved and I loved my outfit. I slipped on a necklace and some rings then put on my brown leather sandals.

I nodded an approval and then grabbed my bag then walked downstairs. I grabbed my keys but before I was out the door I got stopped by the one and only Trey.

"What Trey?" I asked him as I was inches away from the door.

Let's just say Trey isn't my favorite person.

"Where are you going all dressed up?" Trey asked me and I scoffed then rolled my eyes.

"Okay, why would I tell you anything first off?" I asked him.

"Second off, that's none of your business." I said and walked passed him and opened the door then stuck my tongue out at him then left. Yes I'm a mature human being.

I got in my car and drove to the hospital and as soon as I got inside the hospital my heart started to race. I took a deep breath and took the elevator to Nathan's room.

As soon as I entered the room the room was filled with candles. The living room area of his room was set up like a pinic area. The coffee table was moved and it was replaced with a picnic blanket and on the coffee table there were a bunch of food laid out.

I saw Nathan standing there lighting a few more candles and he turned around to see me and he looked over at me and smiled. I was almost crying and I threw my bag onto the couch and ran up to hug him.

"This is so sweet." I mumbled into his chest and I couldn't stop smiling.

"I hope you like it." Nathan said and I wiped a tear off my face and hugged him again.

"Don't cry!" Nathan said and wiped off my tears and I smiled.

"It's so sweet." I said and he hugged me and I smiled.

"Let's sit down." Nathan said and we sat down.

I could already tell this night was gonna be magical.

"So your enemy in third grade pushed you down a well?" Nathan asked and I nodded and he started cracking up.

"I didn't know why she hated me and I still don't!" I said and he smiled then kissed my cheek.

"What's her name?" Nathan asked me as he handed me a chocolate covered strawberry.

"Miley Clark, she's in my grade and she's the queen bee." I said then took a bite into the strawberry.

"I know Miley, she dated Trey. They were on and off." Nathan said and them took a bite of his strawberry.

"All of his relationships are on and off." I said and we both laughed.

"Your laugh is adorable." Nathan said and I smiled then tucked a piece of hair behind my ear.

"Why thank you, how's your leg feeling?" I asked him and he shifted his leg.

"Hurts a little but I'll get through it." Nathan said that and I grabbed a pillow and propped his leg on that.

"People do it in shows so it has to help!" I said and he chuckled.

"Thank you for caring." Nathan said and I smiled.

Then Nathan started leaning in and I leaned in and our lips collided. It felt like sparks were flying and fireworks were going off. Let's just say it was as magical as I thought it was gonna be.

Nathan was coming home today from the hospital and we're throwing a party to welcome him home. Only family and close friends are coming and luckily Matt's parents aren't coming.

"Nathan!" I said as I saw him and I hugged him and he hugged me with the one hand he had.

"Hi Shelby, I missed you." Nathan said and I hugged him again.

"Nathan, some of your soccer friends are outside waiting for you. Why don't you head out back?" Marcy asked and he nodded and crutched his way to the patio.

"You guys are cute together." Marcy said as Nathan was out of sight and I smiled and blushed a little.

"He's a sweetheart and I like him a lot." I said and she hugged me.

"I see a clear future for you both. C'mon let's head out back to make sure they don't do anything dumb. Boys." Marcy said and I laughed and we headed out back.

"Marcy!" Matt called out and Marcy left my side to go help Matt with the grilling.

"Hi Shelby!" Nicole said as she sat next to me on the patio.

"Hey Nicole, what's up?" I asked her.

Nicole and I have gotten closer while she's been here. We can relate a lot and she's been like a big sister to me and it's been easier because now I'm not the only girl.

"Nothing much, I'm looking for Derek because Eric wants a picture but I can't find him anywhere. Have you seen him?" Nicole asked me and I shook my head.

"I'll go look out at the shed, he's always there painting or sculpting and I'll text you if I find him." I said and she hugged me and I left to the shed.

I opened the door to see Derek and a girl sitting there painting and talking and I smiled and took a picture.

"Oh Shelby, hi..." Derek said then scratched the back of his head and I smiled.

"Hi Derek, who's this?" I asked him.

"Shelby this is Bailey, Bailey this is Shelby. She's dating my brother Nathan." Derek said and I shook her hand and smiled.

"Nice to meet you, Eric wants to take a family picture so he's looking for you. I think we should get back to to the party." I said and he nodded and they started picking up and I left.

"This is Bailey? You don't introduce me as your girlfriend?" Bailey asked and I stood there and listened.

"B, none of my family know and that's why I brought you here today. I want to introduce you to them today as my girlfriend." Derek said and I couldn't help but smile, he's such a sweet talker.
