Annabeth POV:

I felt the spider silk yanking on my broken ankle. I screamed. The pain made my fall to my knees. I was being pulled into the pit.

"PERCY! PERCY, HELP!" I screamed. I looked up at the Argo II. Everyone was laughing. No one made a move to help.

"I thought you were a big girl, Annabeth. I thought you said you didn't need help, so here I am. Not helping. Have fun DYING IN TARTARUS."

I was in shock. The Argo was flying away, leaving me here.

"I THOUGHT YOU LOVED ME!! I THOUGHT YOU CARED ABOUT ME!!" I yelled at its retreating form. Nothing. Silence. No reply. Then I was fully pulled into the pit.

I woke up screaming. I panicked. Where was I? Why wasn't I in the infirmary, or my cabin? Then I remembered last night. Being a child of Athena, I figured it out almost instantly, and Percy was awake instantly.

"Annabeth, what's wrong," he asked. I could see the worry in his eyes, even in the dim morning light. "Did you have a nightmare?"

I nodded. I couldn't talk. I was too busy hyperventilating.

The door was flung open, and Sally turned the light on.

"Are you guys ok?" she asked. Paul was right behind her

"Percy nodded. "Nightmare,"

"I'm ok," I choked out.

"Take some deep breaths, Annabeth," Paul suggested.

I tried that. I'd been too busy panicking to remember to do that. It helped. I was able to stop shaking. Sally came over and sat on the edge of the bed.

"Do you need anything?" she asked, still concerned.

"No, I'm okay," I said slowly. She looked skeptical. "Really, I'll be fine," I tried to smile. Sally got up.

"Well, if you change your mind or you need something, come get me, ok?"

"Ok,"

The adults left. I turned and cried into Percy's shirt.

"Don't worry. Whatever nightmare you had, it wasn't real. It didn't happen. This is the real world, not your dream."

"Percy, tell me you love me. I need to hear you say it. I need- "

"I am totally and completely in love with you, Annabeth Chase."

I laid back. That was what I needed to hear. It meant my dream could never be real.

"Can you tell my what happened?"

And so I told him. He pulled me in close.

"That will never happen. I would never leave you behind, and neither would our friends. Don't worry you're safe here. We will never go back to Tartarus." And I believed him.

Percy POV:

Annabeth fell asleep in my arms again just as dawn broke. I was careful not to move or wake her up. I never did get back to sleep, though. Finally, around 7:00, I felt her stirring, so I leaned over and kissed her forehead. She rolled over.

"Have you been my pillow ever since I woke up the first time?"

"Yeah. You looked so comfortable, I didn't dare move you. Plus, I didn't want to wake you up."

"How sweet," she yawned, "did you ever get back to sleep?"

"No,"

Annabeth looked worried. "Did you get enough sleep?"

"Yeah, of course. I'll be fine."

I went in for a kiss on her cheek, and then Annabeth pulled herself into a sitting position. I was running his fingers through her hair when she leaned in.

Annabeth POV:

I pressed my lips to his. We kissed for a few minutes, before having the same thought. Our tongues fought for dominance. Percy was winning, at the moment. Suddenly we heard the door open. I pulled away from his face quickly, but Sally had already seen us making out.

"I don't mean to intrude on anything, but there are blue pancakes in the kitchen for anyone who wants them."

Oh gods. I was ducking behind Percy. My face was bright red. The second time we do that, my boyfriend's mom walks in on us? We live in a cruel world.

"And, about what you were doing a minute ago, I'm fine with that, but make sure to use a condom if you go farther. There are some in my bathroom"

Now Percy's face went bright red. I'm pretty sure Sally was having fun embarrassing us.

She walked out, closing the door behind her. Percy and I burst out laughing.

"Well that was horrifying," Percy said.

"That's an understatement," I said, tapping his nose, "The second time we have a 'make-out session' as Piper likes to call it, YOUR MOM WALKS IN ON US!" I slammed my head on his pillows.

"Yup. What a cruel, cruel world. But you know what?" He moved right up next to my ear.

"I don't regret a thing."
