Annabeth POV:

Percy and I had gone up on his roof to watch the sunset. We'd had a small party with Sally and Paul, with a blue cake. There weren't really any presents given, but I had an anniversary gift for my boyfriend.

"So, I have a card for you, Seaweed Brain. You might have guessed it from your Mom's toast, but here." I handed him the card.

Inside it said,

Percy,

I don't have a material gift for you, but I will be going to Goode for senior year. Happy Anniversary, Seaweed Brain, and Happy Birthday. I love you.

Annabeth

"Really? That's awesome!"

"Yeah, I guess. It's not much, though,"

"So? I get to see you every day!"

He reached into his pocket. "I have something for you, too," It was a small, blue, velvet box. He opened it and pulled out a necklace. He stood up and walked behind me, and clasped it around my neck, then he brought my hair over the chain. I looked down and saw the small, silver trident charm at the end.

"Percy, it's beautiful!" I exclaimed. It really was.

"And there's more. I think. If you pull it away from the chain, I think it'll become something to fight with. I didn't test it."

I gently tugged the trident off the chain and it morphed into a version of my old dagger, that I lost in Tartarus. It was sharpened and polished.

"Percy, this is so cool!" I said, bringing that handle up to my chest on instinct. It collapsed back into the necklace and reattached to the chain.

"This is amazing," I said, kissing him. We sat on the roof for a while, talking and joking. I leaned against his chest, looking up at the sky.

"We've been together for a year," I said, "Can you believe it?"

"Well, more like seven months, but it feels like a full year."

"Technicalities. We didn't break up when you were missing, did we?" It was a rhetorical question, and I knew the answer.

"Nope!"

"It's also been a year since we defeated Kronos. That feels like it happened so long ago, but it didn't,"

"I know. The was with Gaia has taken its toll on everyone, but at least all of our close friends made it through."

"Yeah. I hope that we are never in a prophecy again."

"Never,"

"Percy, have you read Harry Potter?"

"You know I have. You got me into those books." We had listened to the audiobooks together.

"Then maybe never can be our always,"

"I think it is,"

Percy POV:

I was so relieved when Annabeth liked her gift. It look good on her, plus now she could bring a weapon with her all the time, just like I could with Riptide. I knew I was being a bit overprotective, but a necklace is a lot easier to carry around than a full length sword.

We went down to my room. I kissed her. Eventually we fell asleep, and whenever we sleep together, the nightmares stay away
