Percy POV:

I rolled over and looked at my clock. 9:13. Mom had told me that I couldn't come out of my room until 9:30. It was my birthday today, and I think that she's more exited then I am. That's fine though. She was the one, along with Annabeth, who though she would be spending my eighteenth birthday crying because I was dead. But I'm not dead, so Happy Birthday me!

Finally. The clock read 9:30. I could get up and use the bathroom. I did that, and then emerged into the living room.

"HAPPY BIRTHDAY, PERCY!"

Mom, and Paul, and Annabeth were in the living room. There were blue streamers on the walls and a banner that said 'Happy 18th Birthday!' Mom came over and gave me a big hug.

"Happy birthday, honey. How does it feel to be 18?"

"At the moment, hungry," I said.

"Well, I know how to fix that. We have pancakes!"

"Yay!"

We all went into the kitchen and sat at the table.

"So, Grover, Tyson, Nico, and Rachel plus some of your new friends who I don't know are coming over later, for lunch," Mom was saying as I devoured my food.

"Yeah, Leo, Piper, and Jason are coming, but Frank and Hazel have their roman stuff to do on the other side of the country."

"Great!" I said.

"Yeah, it's gonna be fun. We have some other stuff planned too," Paul informed me.

I opened the door to find all our friends from CHB there.

"Brother!" Tyson yelled, pushing his way to the front and squeezing me in a big hug.

"Hey there, Big Guy,"

"Happy Birthday, Percy," Grover told me once I'd been released from Tyson's killer bear hug.

"Thanks, G-man,"

It went on like this for a minute as everyone came inside and into the kitchen.

"So, Mom, this is Jason, Leo, and Piper, I said, gesturing to my friends.

"Nice to meet you, Mrs..." Piper looked at me questioningly.

"Blofis," I filled her in.

"Mrs. Blofis,"

"Please, just call me Sally."

"And I'm Paul," my step-father said, shaking their hands.

There was a flurry of hugs.

"Everyone, please sit down," Annabeth said over the commotion. I sat at the head of the table, with Annabeth on my right and my Mom would have been on my left, but she and Paul were getting glasses of water for everyone. They sat down too.

"A toast to Percy," she said. Immediately I knew this would be embarrassing, just from the way she said it.

"As you all know, this is Percy's 18th birthday. In the eye of the law, he is an adult. In my eye, he'll always be my little boy. He has more responsibility as an adult, but he also has more freedom. Today, Percy embarks on a new journey with Annabeth," Annabeth blushed, and I was already embarrassed. "They have fought many battles together, and now, they will take on their senior year of high school together, and even though Percy's now an adult, hopefully he'll still listen to his mother." She ruffled my hair and sat down. Everyone applauded. It hadn't been as bad as I had thought it would be thought.

"Now it's time for cake!" Paul said, resulting in from cheers all around the table from the hungry teenagers. He pulled a large cake from the fridge. It had blue icing on it, which Mom ad made to look like waves. 'Happy Birthday' was written on it. He lit the candles, put it in front of me, and turned out the lights.

"Happy birthday to you

Happy birthday to you

Happy birthday dear Percy

Happy Birthday to you," I blew out the candles and everyone cheered.

We had cake and dinner, and then we talked for a while, until everyone had to leave. They'd gotten a ride from Argus, so when he showed they didn't want to keep him waiting.

Paul came over. "Happy birthday, Percy. I don't have much of a present for you, but I did pull some strings at Goode. You won't be repeating your junior year of high school. It'll mean you have to work very hard, and probably have a tutor, but assuming you do, you'll graduate on time."

"Are you serious?" I asked. My luck was amazing.

"Dead serious,"

"That's amazing! Thank you!"

"And I have a present for you too, but it's not here yet. I'll give it to you as soon as I have it. Sorry about that" Mom said.

"No problem!"
