Percy POV:
Blood poured everywhere as Annabeth crumpled onto the floor.
"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!" I screamed. I ran over to her body as a golden cloud seemed to be pulled from the stab wound. It was too late, she was dying and it was all Nico's fault.
"Why did you do this," I said, not even bothering to look at him. I couldn't keep the murderous edge from my voice. I didn't want to keep it from my voice. He killed her. I needed to kill him.
"Percy, it's not what it looks like. I've fought those skoúro thirío
before, and-"
"You killed her. Now I'm going to kill you." I stood up, but didn't grab my sword, stuck in the side of a bookshelf. I walked towards him, hands up and ready to strangle that son-of-a-bitch.
"I've fought those before. The have a special kind of magic. If you kill the host, is banishes them – "
"I could've found a way to kill it without killing Annabeth. I would have, too."
"No you wouldn't have, but if you actually shut up, you'd already know that she isn't fucking dying!"
I stopped in my tracks. "You stabbed her in the heart. She's dead, Nico, all because of you."
"No, she isn't. If you looked behind you – "
"Then you'd stab me in the back. I know how it goes."
"You idiot. Fine. I'll come around so that you can see her." He edged around me to stand next to my Annabeth. My breath caught in my throat as I looked at her. The stab wound was smaller than it had been a minute ago. I sprinted up to her.
"Annabeth?" she might have stirred, but I couldn't be sure. Quickly, I felt for a pulse. After a minute of tense silence, there it was. Faint and irregular, but her heart was beating. She was breathing, too. The wound got smaller with every passing second. It was no longer bleeding, although her shirt was soaked with blood. I picked her up. She was still unconscious, but I could tell that she wasn't dying. If anything, she was coming back to life. Her body shuddered and he eyes flew open.
"Wha-what happened?" I knelt at her head.
"Annabeth! You're okay!"
She didn't respond. She must have noticed the blood pooling on the floor. "\
"Who's hurt, Percy? Who's dying?"
I bit my lip, not sure if I should tell her.
"Well-"
"Tell me! Was it one of our friends?"
"Do you not remember?" I asked, suddenly puzzled.
"Remember-" She gasped.
"Gods Percy. How am I alive?!"
"I'll tell you later,"
"Tell me now! I'm not a delicate little flower; I don't need your protection."
"The thing that possessed you: the only way we could get it out was to stab you," I turned around to see Nico standing in the shadows. "But SOMEONE DIDN'T EXPLAIN BEFORE STABBING YOU!"
"Sorry," he mumbled.
"Anyways, it's not dead, but skoúro thirío, the shadow beast, is gone. Hopefully it stays away." Annabeth leaned into me. I realized she was freezing in her wet shirt. I quickly gave her my jacket.
"And if it ever comes back," I muttered under my breath, "I'll make it wish it was never born."
A/N: Hey look a non-incredibly short chapter! Sadly I didn't edit it.... I'm gonna try to spend more time doing that now. Longer and better.
