Percy POV:

A few more minutes of face palming our sorry existence, and we finally got up.

"Do I have to face your mom after that?" Annabeth whined, only half joking

"Yes, now c'mon," I tried to grab her wrist but he sat down on my bed, crossed her arms, and stuck out her tongue at me. I sighed.

"Do I have to bribe you?"

"Yes, that would be nice."

I swooped in and kissed her.

"There. There's more where that came from, but not until you leave this room and come get breakfast with me. I'm starving."

This time Annabeth came with me. We emerged into the hallway, and I could already smell the pancakes.

"Mornin' Percy," Paul said sipping his coffee. Either he was trying to keep his poker face or Mom hasn't told him. Yet.

Mom elbowed him and he then he remembered that I wasn't the only one.

"And Annabeth,"

I was trying not to make eye contact with Mom or Annabeth. I wasn't not sure what would happen if I did, but I didn't want it to happen.

Looking at the floor, I went to go get a couple plates for us, but I had to look up to get us pancakes.

"Annabeth, how may pancakes do you want?" I asked, turning to look at her, which exposed my still slightly swollen lip to my mother. I bit my lip to try to make it look normal, but it didn't work.

"Two is fine," she said. I turned the wrong way back to the stove, right in front of my mom.

She saw. I swear to the gods; mothers only exist to make their kid miserable.

"Annabeth," she started.

I closed my eyes. This was it.

"You know you can bite him harder, right?"

Oh god. Oh god. Help. Help me.

"Umm..."

Oh god.

"Well, uh, I have to go get ready for work," Paul said awkwardly. He was smart to get out while he still could.

"I...well....umm..." Annabeth was still stuttering, with no clue what to say. I decided to help her.

"It was bigger. The swelling has gone down." I said. Gods why did I say that.

But Mom just elbowed me gently in the side.

"Oh, c'mon. You know it's my job to embarrass you in front of your girlfriend. And embarrass your girlfriend. And embarrass both of you. You know you love me."

"Yeah, true, but we're still gonna go eat in my room,"

"Fair enough. I guess I deserve that. By the way, Annabeth, honey, are you feeling better after your nightmare? I think I know the answer, but I'm still asking." She winked. So subtle, Mom.

"Yeah, I'm feeling a lot better, thanks to a great boyfriend who let my use his chest as a pillow."

"Good. What was your nightmare?" Mom asked. Iwas worried that she was pressing too much but Annabeth seemed to be happy totalk about anything other than our kissing this morning. We did end up eatingin the kitchen.
