Mirkwood and Spiders

Saphira's POV

We followed the path until we came to a broken bridge. "Now want do we do?" one of the dwarves asks. The dwarves and the hobbit couldn't jump the river, but Bella and I could.

"Find another way across" Thorin stated.

"Remember don't touch the water" I tell them before getting Bella to jump the river. I turned back and saw the dwarves looking annoyed that I could get across easily. But they soon found a bunch of branches and sent Bilbo over first. I started to feel strange as did Bella as I got off her back.

Bilbo got across and I could tell he felt it to. "We should go back, somethings wrong" I tell him. He nodded his head and we turned to tell the dwarves to find them all half way across. I sighed and helped them all across.

"This way" Thorin said as he headed away from the path.

"The path leads this way" Bilbo tells him and I nod my head agreeing.

"We go this way" Thorin stated firmly. I grabbed Bella's reins as Bilbo and I followed the dwarves. I felt like we were being watched when one of the dwarves declared we had lost the path. They all started to look for it and Thorin said "we have to find the sun."

So Bilbo and I climbed a tree near by to the top. There we saw butterflies, sun and the mountain. "Guys we see it, the mountain" Bilbo tells them. But there was no reply, so we climbed back down. When we reached the bottom we saw that the dwarves had left us and Bella.

Just then we heard their screams near by and ran towards it. Bella stayed close to me as we hid behind a tree to see want was going on. We watched the dwarves being wrapped in web and carried into the trees by giant spiders. I started to think of a way to free them knowing they would only be paralyzed at the moment.

"Bilbo I'll distract the spiders while you cut the others loose, then I'll circle back" I tell him. He wasn't happy with the plan, but agreed to it anyway. "Bella we have to run fast girl, I know you are tired. But the others are counting on us" I tell her in elvish. I climbed onto her back as Bilbo started to climb into the trees.

"Oi! You! Come and get me!" I yell at the spiders killing one of them with my bow. That got their attention and Bella galloped away as I continued to shot the spiders. After killing several that had followed me I circled back to where Bilbo and the others were. "Guys are you ok? I think I got them all" I say galloping into the clearing I had left Bilbo in.

That is when I released they were not alone and were surrounded by elves. Just then I saw another spider heading towards a blonde haired elf. Who wasn't paying attention to his surroundings. I draw my bow and shot an arrow at it, killing it. "Don't get distracted" I tell the elf sternly still on Bella's back hood up.

He looked at the spider in disbelief as the other elves aimed their weapons at me. That is when I released they had the dwarves surrounded and that they had no weapons. "Want are you doing with my friends?" I ask them in elvish.

"Show yourself" the blonde one said in elvish. Bella was getting uncomfortable with the weapons being pointed at us. I patted her gently before dismounting.

"I would rather not, but I can see you searched my friends. Can the female search me before we go?" I ask him in elvish. "Oh and I wish to clean myself up before meeting your king" I state.

"Search her" the blonde elf told the she elf with red auburn hair. She and I were behind Bella out of view of the others as she took my weapons. I lowered my hood a little and she gasped seeing me. Before I quickly put it back up placing a finger to my lips asking her to be quiet.

"I am the daughter of the king and wish to be reunited with my father & brother. But first I wish to get cleaned up and change. Please don't say anything to the other elves just yet" I ask her quietly in elvish. So that the other elves could not here and she nodded her head.

"Are all the spiders dead?" the blonde elf asks the she elf as we rejoined the group.

"Yes, but more will come they are getting bolder" she tells him. "I have taken all her weapons and she requests an audience with the kin after cleaning up" she tells him pointing to me. He agreed and then lead us away as the she elf held Bella's reins. I walked beside her to keep Bella calm as she didn't like strangers. "I am Tauriel and I am the captain of the guard" she tells me. "And he is Prince Legolas son of Thranduil" she says pointing to the blonde elf.

I stared at him not believing I had meet my brother at last and I felt our connection.  And could tell he felt it to and was confused by it. Then I remember I saved his life and plan on teasing him about it later. "Please do not lose my weapons, they are perish to me" I tell her and she nods her head.
