Transformation and Heir

Saphira's POV

We soon reached Rivendell after leaving Beorn's home after resting the night. He gave us some extra supplies before sending us off. Beorn said we were welcome anytime, especially me as I was about to become something similar to him. The trip was uneventful no sign of any orcs, goblins or trolls.

As we entered the court yard we were greeted by both Lord Elrond and Lindir. Along with a few other elves, two of which took our horses (Bilbo's pony) to the stables. "I hear congratulations are in order for completing your quest" Elrond bowing his head hand on his chest. I did the same to him and Gandalf did so as well.

"We wish to stay for a few days, if that is ok with you Elrond" Gandalf tells him.

"Of course you are always welcome here" Elrond tells us. "Now I believe Saphira has something she wishes to discuss" he states. I nod my head then we left heading to his office with Gandalf. While Lindir showed Bilbo to his room for the duration of his stay. Once we reached his office/study I sat down in an armchair Gandalf standing behind me and Elrond sitting behind the desk in front of me.

"I did not escape the battle with Smaug unchanged" I tell Elrond. He was confused at first until realization hit him. "Smaug changed me and I only have three days" I state.

"He made you part dragon" Elrond states and I nod my head. "I can help you control your dragon form so that you can change at well. But your first transformation will be in three days time at sunset" he explained. "There is something else you must know before you transform" Elrond tells me.

"What could that be? I mean I am turning into a dragon what else is there to know?" I ask him.

"Depending on the type of dragon you turn into, you may get powers that can be used in your normal form. Also with Smaug dead there is no dragon to protect you from advances of other male dragons. There are few female dragons and they all have mates to protect them" he explains.

"But I don't want to be with a dragon or have children yet. I want to find love and be married before even thinking of having children" I tell Elrond. Gandalf placed a comforting hand on my shoulder as Elrond stood up.

"They will only sense you when you turn into a dragon not when you are an elf. However, they won't be able to track you until their mating season if you are in dragon form then. Which only happens every hundred years" Elrond explains. "By my knowledge the next one won't be for sixty years" he states.

"Thank you Elrond that helps a lot, so you have no idea want dragon I'll be?" I ask him.

"You'll turn into one that suits your personality best in your case I would say a water dragon. Which means you will have control over water in elf form as well as strong healing powers" he states. "But this is only a guess" he tells Gandalf and I.

"Now we must take you to the healing room" Gandalf said and Elrond nodded his head. We followed him to a private healing chamber where he had me sit on the bed. Elrond gave me something to drink which made me sleepy as he began to chant in elvish. Darkness consumed me not long after he began chanting and I had finished the drink.

(few hours later)

I woke up to only Elrond in the room and Gandalf no where in sight. I also felt a presence in the back of my mind and decided to investigate. Hello, any one there I thought.

Hello Saphira I am your dragon Katara a soft woman's voice answered.

Nice to met your Katara, I can already tell we will be great friends I tell her.

I feel the same way and I promise to never control you, but I ask for something in return she states.

Of course ask away Katara I tell her.

I know you do not want a mate and neither do I we are both still very young. But I wish to be able to fly at least once a month she tells me.

I promise you may unless there is an important reason for you not to. Only a few know of what I have became and it could be dangerous if the information fell into the wrong hands I tell her. She agrees to the condition and goes silent as Elrond approaches me/us.

"Saphira glad you are awake, there is someone here who wishes to speak to you" he tells me. I nod my head and sat up on the bed I had fallen asleep in. When I looked out the window I saw it was nearly midday. Which was weird as we got here before sunset. "You have been asleep for about 16 hours" Elrond explains before heading towards the door.

Lady Galadriel entered the room and Elrond stayed shutting the door behind her. "I am glad to see you again my dear, but I must ask you something" she says giving me a hug.

"I too have something I wish to ask you" Elrond says standing next to Galadriel.

"Celeborn and I have no heir to take the throne of Lothlorien when we set sail. We raised you as our own and would like you to take our place when we sail" she tells me.

"None of my children wish to take the throne and I was wondering if you would consider taking it. You are like a niece to me" Elrond tells me.

"I am honoured you both want me to and I'd be honoured. Besides I am sure Legolas will be taking over the Woodland Realm when our father leaves. Tell Celeborn he will always be like a second father to me and you always a mother" I say the last bit to Galadriel. Before turning to Elrond saying "I also see you as an Uncle." We spent the rest of the day talking about how to tell the people of both cities of this news.

(couple days later sunset)

It was time for my first shift and Katara was excited to see want she looked like. I promised her that she could have control for our first shift as it was technically her body. Elrond guided me to a clearing on the forest where I could shift unseen. We also informed Galadriel of my condition. She still wished me to lead her people one and left yesterday.

Elrond informed his people of me taking his throne one day. They all took it very well and welcomed me with open arms. Even when they found out about Katara. So I was now a crowned Princess of Rivendell and Mirkwood. Soon to be crowned Princess of Lothlorien.

Just as the sun set I felt Katara take control as I began to shift. It was painful at first, but I got use to it quickly. When I was fully transformed, Katara looked at herself and roared loudly taking to the sky. It felt amazing being able to fly it felt like being free.
