Silence filled the air as Brad and I walked slowly to the new house that we would be living in. We passed several humans who paid no attention to us and some demons who gave us some interesting looks but nothing happened. I began to remember life before when Cole and I weren’t hunters.

            “Cole! Hurry up!” I shouted.

“I’m coming, I’m coming.” He moaned as he walked into the living room where I was waiting patiently.

“I wanna go outside!” I complained. My five year old intension span was very low, so I was bored a lot. At age seven, my brother was very mature and practically raised me.

“Katie, you know we can’t. Mom and Dad’s rules.” He enforced.

            “But why?” I whined.

“There are bad guys outside, now let’s play a board game.” He suggested. I sighed and went upstairs to grab a board game.

“I want to play outside!” I grumbled to myself as I stomped up the stairs.

Looking through the closet of games, I moaned and groaned because there weren’t any games that I wanted to play.

“I’m going outside.” I told myself.

I ran into my room which was filled with fluffy stuffed animals and dolls. Mommy always told me to get rid of my animals but I just couldn’t do it. I loved them! I opened my window, letting the cool breeze fill my room.

“Bubby can’t stop me.” I muttered to myself.

Since my bedroom was upstairs, I had to climb down the gutter next to my window and into my backyard. I swung my legs out of the window, looking down. The world spun around me as I began to get scared of the height.

“Katie, where are you?” Cole shouted.

Ignoring my brother, I slid myself outside of the window and onto the roof. I scooted my way down the roof until I reached the gutter to slide down.

“Katie!” Cole shouted again, startling me.

I slipped down the rest of the roof, my hand catching the end of the roof, which saved me from falling to the ground. I held on for dear life as I screamed for my brother. Tears flooded my face, wetting my cheeks. I was terrified; I desperately tried to hold on to the roof. One hand slipped and I knew I was going to fall. I took one last breath as my other hand slipped. I screamed as I began to fall but felt a pair of hands grab on to me.

“Bubby!” I shouted with delight but also fear.

I kicked my feet frantically as Cole lifted me up onto the roof. Once I was to safety, I wrapped my arms around Cole and began to sob.

“I-I’m sorry!” I cried, warm tears fell down my reddened cheeks.

“It’s alright Katie. Let’s go inside.” My brother replied.

Cole held my hand tightly as we walked back and climbed through the window. My legs and hands were trembling as I stood in my bedroom, staring at Cole.

“I told you to never go outside; especially by yourself, and especially out a window on the second floor of a house!” Cole scolded.
