Ells' POV
The whole day had gone by just as quickly as it came. As the sun began to set, we decided to set camp.
Throughout the day, we had done a few things to get us prepared for the journey ahead. We found an apple tree, filled with many, many apples.
Dimitry started to transform, but Simon stop him, saying that it was too dangerous to transform, due to the fact that the Chaos monsters were probably looking for us, and sniffing for strong magic, like ours.
Simon told us that, Chaos masters, monsters, ghouls, you name it. They have the power to look like any ordinary person. But, only a few can spot them, because spotting one was very hard. Some of these people are quite famous. "
"Sherlock Holmes found these people often," Simon said, "Usually, though, he didn't use his power. He binded them permanently to focus more on detective work."
Anyways, back to the apple tree. So, first things first. We climb the tree. Well, we tried, at least.
Astrid said that he'd rather stay close to the ground, where it's safer. So, being the good friend I am, I stayed with him. The rest of the group went to get the apples. We took patrol of the area and looked for anything that would try to potentially murder us.
Nothing was really happening, but, I was alone with Astrid. This was the first time ever since the incident. I didn't wanna think about much. I want to wait until there was a good time to focus on the problems at hand, but, Astrid had other thoughts in mind.
"Ells, now that nobody is bumping into this, I-"
"I like you, Astrid. I do. You don't know how long I've wanted to say that to you. I want to, you know, try to give this ago, and see what would happen. I'm just, scared. Not so much about us, but about the situation. I don't want you to get hurt by one of those Chaos monsters, or somebody like Wendy. I... I'm sorry..." I said, sadly.
"Ells, I've already accepted the fact that I'm probably going to get hurt. But, listen. I'd rather die saving the most beautiful girl in the world then die not knowing you." He said, looking into my eyes, as I looked back into his.
I hugged him, his warm arms wrapping around me like a soft, warm blanket.
We patrolled a little longer, as the others got the apples. They collected as many as possible, and then we continued back on our journey.
That was one of the only breaks we ever had. It felt like my feet were going to fall off if I continued walking for much longer.
Finally, Simon let us set camp somewhere in the middle of the forest.
Which would lead us to right now. Dimitry collected some sticks for the fire, while Astrid started the fire using a little fire he got from his hand. Simon started scolding Astrid for using his powers. Violet put her hand on Simon's shoulder, causing Simon to calm down, and just giving Astrid a warning.
I sat down crisscross style and looked up at the bright stars in the sky, finding someplace of calm and peace up there.
