Chapter 42 - Niall

We looked at eachother in the eyes holding eachothers intense gaze. "Tess. You're going to get through this. I promise" I said as a tear slipped out of my eye. 

"Niall. You can't promise that" Tess smiled at me. 

"Yes. Yes I can. You're going to be okay. We both know that"

She chuckled and I saw a glistening tear slip out of her eyes and disappear to the other side of her face. "Niall. Something isn't right with me. I may get out of it. I may not. I keep having a dream where everything is white and then I see you dreaming about me in a white dress. Then blood starts to spread out from my stomach. I'm cared Niall. I keep feeling a sharp jab in that area. What... what if my dream becomes true?"

I felt my face drop and become pale. I've been having that dream. I keep seeing her in a white dress, then blood starts to spread. Then she drops to the ground in pain. I want to erase that nightmare from my memory. I don't want to see that happen to Tess. 

"It won't Tess. It won't" I said with the calmest voice I possessed. She smiled at me. Her face had gained some colour but she still looked sickly. I leant down giving her a kiss on the forehead and then her lips. They were cold and only then I noticed how cold she was. Her small body was shivering. I panicked instantly. I took my phone out and texted Harry to bring some blankets. 

I clicked send and then focused back on Tess. She had moved over and left a spot for me. My face softened and I gently climbed into the hard bed with her. She moved down and lay on my chest. "Sing for me Niall" she whispered softly. I started to hum out a tune and I could just make out that she was smiling. 

Harry walked in and heard the tune and started to sing too.

Louis then walked into the room and sang his part. 

Hands are silent

Voice is numb

Try to scream out my lungs

It makes this harder

And the tears stream down my face

Harrys voice rang out loud and strong filled with love and concern for one of his best friends.

Liam and Zayn walked into the room just in time to join the chorus.

- Tess -

The boys had all come into my room to sing for me. It was beautiful. My head was rested on Niall's chest and when he sang, the gentle vibration of his voice made me smile with pride. The boys soon left me to sleep. Niall and Liam stayed behind to keep an eye on me. 

- Niall -

The soft and constant beep of the machine beside Tess' bed reminded me she was still alive for one more heart beat. She was still leant on my chest laying still. At times she moved her hand to press against her stomach as if to soothe pain. 

Liam and I made small talk. He could some how sense if I was too upset or worried to say anything so he would reassure me that Tess was going to be fine. I hope he's right. I dont know what I'd do without her. 

"Get some sleep mate. I'll keep watch" Liam said to me. I nodded my head and smiled in thanks. I leant my head against one of the massive pillows and felt sleep come over me. 

I don't know how long I slept for but Liam woke me up. "Niall! Niall! Wake up man!"

I opened my eyes and then I heard something. Something that wasn't right. "Oh my god" I gasped. "Press the red button Liam! The red button!" I shouted. I didn't care who I woke up. The beeping had become faster than I last paid attention to it. 

"Liam! What's happening. I hopped out of bed making sure Tess' head was resting on a pillow. Liam pulled me in for a hug and I cried into his shoulder. I was paying very close attention to the beeping. 

WAIT! The beeping! Liam and I looked at eachother. I ran over to Tess. "Tess. Don't leave me. Come back". Several doctors and nurses and bursted into the room. They pushed us out leaving us to wait in the empty corridor with heavy hearts. 

"Tess. Don't leave me" I whispered.
