Chapter 44 - Niall

Her body was tightly pressed against me. She still looked very weak. "Niall? Im not going to make it. Something is very wrong" she clutched her head and fell limp in my arms.

"Call the doctors!" I yelled. Tess was soon wheeled away from me. I dropped to me knees crying.


6 YEARS LATER

- Tess -

"Will! Jace! Come here right now" i yelled at my children. "I thought I told you not to push Jem too high on the swing"

"I hurt your mother by doing that a long long time ago" arms snaked around my waist. Niall kissed me cheek. "How are you today?" he asked turning my body towards his.

"I'm feeling a little faint but I'm okay".

"Have..."

"Yes. I have everything is normal. Do they know?" I asked nodding my head in our childrens direction? We gathered our children into our room and settled them down.

- Niall -

We had a long talk trying to get them to understand. "Kids...you're mother and I have to have a very serious talk with you. A long time ago you're mother was very sick. No one could help her" I started. I really hope they understand. I went on and on with Tess supporting me each step of the way. "And she is still very weak. She has been getting weaker and weaker and more tired each day" I looked over a Tess and gently squeezed her hand. Tears had started to form and roll down her pale cheeks when she turned back to her children. "But next week is your mother and I's birthday. We want you to have lots of fun and be nice to eachother. We are going to invite uncle Harry, Liam, Zayn and Louis and Aunty Cara and Iz."

They put on smiles showing us that they understood. Jem just sat there and started crying. Her light brown hair tangled around her head as she looked down at her feet. Tess slowly got up and reached over for her only daughter. "Jem? Hey. Look. I'm fine. I'm just not very strong though" she said gently lifting her delicate body towards herself.

"Mummy? Are you sure you're okay?" she mumbled. Tess bit her lip and rested Jem on her waist and slowly walked away explaining to her.

"Do you understand Jem? I'm fine"



- Tess -

She nodded her head making her dark blonde hair bounce. I looked at her beautiful eyes. They were filled with concern for me. Those beautiful blue orbs from her dad and flecks of brown from me. Her hair was a mix between Niall and I. Some people say it's light brown, others say it's dark blonde. I kissed her forehead and set her down. She waddled away to play with her brothers.



3 DAYS LATER



- Niall -

I had set up an enormous bed sized trampoline in the backyard with fairylights. It was exactly how I remembered our seventh birthday was. I threw pillows and a few blankets onto the strong black material. I smiled to myself knowing that making Tess happy and seeing her smile would reassure our three children.

The door bell rang and Tess opened to see all our friends. They all gently hugged Tess knowing that she was weak. They all tackled me. Literally. Tess led Cara and Iz outside to talk. She had a pretty serious look on her face.



- Tess -

I faced my two best friends. I gave them a look and that sighed and gave me a very comforting hug. "I know I'm fading. I have to make the most of what I have left" I said to them emotionlessly.

"Hunny... We'll always be here for you" Cara said holding my hand.

"No matter what" nodded Iz. I gave them another hug and smiled. The boys had all walked outside and Harry handed Niall a guitar. I smiled and recalled the memory of our seventh birthday. We were both wearing our bracelets and the backyard was set up in a similar way.



- Niall -

It was time for Tess' present. Harry handed me a guitar and looked at me with smiling eyes. I nodded slightly in thanks and made my way to the trampoline. I started to strum and play some chords. Liams voice started to ring out strong and confident.


Shut the door, turn the lights off

Harry looked at Tess straight in the eyes and then turned to me and started to sing.

We all started to sing. All five of us splitting into different harmonies and melodies. I looked at Tess as I sang. Cara and Iz were sat beside her smiling at her.

I put down the guitar and joined the boys opposite Tess. We all stood in a curve. I sand my heart out to my wife. The love of my life.


Close the door

Zayn started to sing. He was mostly directing it to Iz but I know Tess still found the atmosphere magical and very special.


Flashes lights in my mind
Going back to the time
Playing games in the street
Kicking balls with my feet
There's a numb in my toes

There's a pile of my clothes

As I feel myself fall

"I love you Tess" I said. She came running at me and jumped as I caught her. Tears were roling down her face. She kissed me, her tears hitting my face.

She smiled and wiped her tears away. She pulled out a small box. I set her down and opened the box. Our children were crowded around us along with Harry, Liam, Zayn, Louis, Cara and Iz. Inside the box were two charms. The first one was an infinity sign with our names on either ends. Our names were coloured the same blue as my eyes. The second charm was a silver square the size of the nail on my thumb. There were five names written on it. Niall, Will, Jace, Jem and Tess. My name and Will's name were the same colour because he had inherited my eyes. Will, being the oldest stood up and hugged Tess and I. Jace was written in a light almost golden brown. Jem had the same blue but was speckled with little brown dots. Tess' name was coloured the same brown as her eyes. She smiled and kissed me and all our children.

"I love you Niall"

I am sad to say that this is the end. I will be writing another story. Comment for who you would like. This will not become a series though.
