Chapter 12

Emma's Pov

I think I already regret telling Ellen, not because I don't trust her, just because she tells Ross everything, and I mean everything.

They made a deal that they can't keep any secrets from each other and I know that her conscience will get the better of her if she doesn't tell him.

Ellen and I finished our chat and went downstairs to join the rest of them. Everyone was wearing their R5 hoodies, as usual. I don't think any of them have been washed yet, which is pretty gross.

When we got downstairs, there were bowls of popcorn spread out between everyone and only one seat left ... and oh great, it's right next to where Riker was sitting.

Ellen went over and sat on Ross's knee, as per usual, and I gracefully plopped myself beside Riker. And by gracefully I mean that I literally nearly broke the seat I slammed myself down so hard.

We start watching a movie, to be honest I didn't even pay attention to what we were watching, I was too distracted with having Riker sitting right beside me.

I don't want to sound creepy, but he smelt so good and the fact that we had matching hoodies didn't really help the situation.

You see, his favourite color is blue, and so is mine. But Ross wanted all of us to have our own individual color so I chose navy instead. Which I'm glad of in a way because me and Riker are pretty much matching.

Emma, snap out of it, watch the movie! ... concentrate ... ok, it won't work, I can't stop thinking about him!

Riker's Pov

Why did I not see this coming? Of course she was going to sit beside me, there only is one seat!

We're watching some movie, but I couldn't concentrate because she was sitting right beside me, nearly on top of me ... but I'm not complaining.

My mom asks her to go and fill up some of the bowls with popcorn and get more sodas. And before thinking I got up and offered to help.

I can't help thinking that maybe what I heard her say was about me, but there's no way for me to be sure without straight up asking her.

We collected the bowls and empty soda cans and went into the kitchen. Emma was trying to reach the popcorn, which was on the top shelf of one of our cupboards, and she couldn't reach.

So me being a romantic at heart, I got the bag for her and helped her pour the popcorn into the plastic bowls.

I then got some soda cans out of the fridge and set them beside the bowl.

Emma's Pov

Okay, so that was super nice of him. But he's just being kind, he wasn't flirting ... at least that's what I chose to believe, because no guy like him could ever like me, right?

I turned around to face him and he started to speak, in a tone I've never heard him use before.

"Listen, I know this isn't exactly a great thing to hear. But earlier I was coming up to check on Ellen for Ross because he was worried about her and ... well ... I heard you talking about liking someone. I was just wondering, who is it?"

I was completely lost for words, he heard everything ... what if he heard me say his name and knows it's him.

Should I just be honest and tell him that it was him we were talking about? I honestly don't know what the right thing to do is.

So I did the first thing that came to my head and said, "Oh, just this guy I met recently."

That was the perfect opportunity to tell him how I feel and I just let it slip.

He looked slightly disappointed to my answer and said, "Oh right, because I was really hoping it might've been me."

He then lifted the cans of Coca Cola and went back into the living room. I lifted the bowls and hastily followed him in, handing the bowls out to whoever wanted more popcorn.

Riker's Pov

What did I just do? Why am I so stupid? It obviously wasn't me she was talking about and I just tell her that I wish it was?

She's going to think that I'm a complete weirdo now, she's 11 years younger than me! Oh dear, what if she tells Ellen and then Ellen tells Ross and then Ross wouldn't be able to keep his mouth shut for too long.

If my brothers find out I'm going to get teased for so long about blurting out that I like a 14 year old and that I want her to like me back.

Ellen's Pov

I can see Riker and Emma giving each other looks all night, something must have happened when they went into the kitchen. I know that Emma will tell me later but I'm super nosey and need to know as soon as possible.

The movie ends and me and Ross go up to bed. Rydel decided to go for a walk with Ellington and Emma stayed downstairs for a while, so it was only Ross and I in the room.

We both got changed and then went into my bed. I told him everything and he said he already knew and that he can tell when his brother likes someone, I probably should've known that though because they're all so close.

Ross and I chat for a little bit longer and he ends up falling asleep with his arm around me and my head rested on his chest.

Rydel and Ellington are both in Rydel's bed, but I can't help noticing that Emma's bed is empty. I just hope she's alright.
