Chapter 13

Ross's Pov

I woke up with Ellen lying awake in my arms, which is weird because I'm always awake first. Something must be up.

I kissed her forehead lightly. She gave me a quick kiss and got out of bed and started walking down the hall.

I got up and followed her downstairs, she sat down in the living room and looked around curiously. She turned towards me and asked me where Emma was.

I didn't want to worry her, but I wasn't sure either. I went into the kitchen to cook us some bacon for a sandwich and I found a note on the island in the middle of the kitchen. The note said,

Don't worry, I'll be back soon xx
- Emma

Any normal person would read this and just put it down again, but when Ellen took it off me and she had an extremely worried expression on her face.

I told her that I'm sure Emma is fine and we should be focusing on getting ready the Halloween party that my mom and siblings were throwing for some friends and family.

Halloween is our favorite holiday so we always enjoy it and celebrate it by dressing up and partying. But Ellen just seemed so worried. She said that the writing on the note didn't look like it was Emma's. Seeing her like that makes the overprotective part of me come out and I just want to help her.

Ellen's Pov

What am I supposed to do? I went back upstairs to check to see if she had brought her phone with her to wherever she had gone but it was sitting on her bed, which wasn't slept in.

When I returned downstairs everyone else was sitting around the dining table eating their breakfast that Ross had cooked for them.

Ross told me to eat but I was too anxious to eat. I told him that I wasn't feeling like it and he put my bacon sandwich in a container so I could eat it later. He really is such an amazing boyfriend.

The rest of the day was filled with organising the Halloween party and me worrying about where Emma had gone.

It came to 7pm and Riker was now starting to worry about where Emma was. I asked Stormie if she'd seen her and she said that Riker was the last person to be with her.

I asked Riker if he knew where she might be, and he said that she stayed downstairs to clean up after he went to bed.

So it's official, no one knows where Emma went or when she's coming back.

Ross's Pov

We got ready for the night and put our costumes and makeup on. Most of our costumes were last minute because we've all been so busy recently.

I sat on Ellen's bed and she did face paint for me, she thought it was hilarious that I kept making stupid expressions to show her different parts of my face so she could paint it.

Ellen and I went as Harley Quinn and the Joker. Rydel and Ellington went as Jasmine and Aladdin, joined by Ryland who went as Abu. Riker and Rocky dressed as vampires and Mom and dad both went as ghosts.

The night came pretty quickly. The crowds started arriving at 8:30 so we had to make sure there was enough food and drink for everyone that would be coming.

My day was filled with mostly worrying about Ellen, she's looked so anxious and so pale with worry all day.

I just tried to enjoy my night with my family as best as I could, but I knew I would just worry until Ellen was okay.

Ellen's Pov

I needed some fresh air, so I went kissed Ross quickly and went into the backyard and sat on one of the deck chairs.

A man, I assumed one of Ellington's friends, came and sat beside me. He was wearing all black so I thought he must've been dressed as the grim reaper or something.

But then he turned to me and gave me a look that gave me shivers.

He was holding a sack, but I couldn't see this until now because it was dark outside.

I tried to scream but he had put something in my mouth so I couldn't speak.

The next thing I knew ... everything was dark.
