"Do you miss him?"
Dianne stared at the stars above her face, the sweet voices of the calm waves sweeping the sand so heavenly to her ears. She turned to Devon, who lied by her side on the rooftop.
"He took me to the rooftop, back in town," Dianne giggled as that memory came back fresh in her mind. "It was not really pretty-buildings covered the skies, and it rained-but he made me happy."
"So happy that you, at that moment, thought that you would never come back home?"
"Devon..." Dianne rolled her body and faced him, pinching his cheeks. "I love you, okay? This is our home. He's just a-what do they call it-a fling."
"Is he a really good guy? I just want you to be happy," Devon replied with a sigh. "How good is he, compared to Lucio?"
"What?" Dianne sat away from Devon, tucking her knees together.
"I-I'm sorry."
It took a while for Dianne to force herself to breathe normally and not jump off their roof. "How did you know about him?"
How did Devon and Nate know about him?
"I..." Devon smiled awkwardly. "I met him. He helped me to stay in town to look for you-and when I found you, I became afraid that he would take you away from me, so I urged you to come back here."
"Devon..."
This twin of hers was crazy. She was torn between crying and laughing at his innocence that made him the little brother he always was, but then all she did was hug him tightly. "Thank you."
"Do you hate him? He told me so much about you. I think he truly loves you, Dianne."
He did?
"No he doesn't," Dianne replied harshly.
"He also said that you would think that way. You know, maybe he had changed now. After you left him," Devon assumed.
Dianne sighed.
If only real life was as simple as it was in Devon's eyes...
"I decided to leave him, okay? And I'm never coming back. Why should I? I got you now..."
Something pierced her heart as she remembered how those were the exact same words Nate said to her in the flat. I got you now.
Could she really stay in Namiri forever, knowing that part of her heart was buried in Nate and her dreams that he almost made come true?
