High dive into frozen waves where the past comes back to life
"Where the hell are you? I've been trying to call you all day. Is everything alright?"
Lucio's suspicion flowed swiftly through his voice. Devon walked further from Dianne, hoping she would not overhear their conversation over the phone. "E-everything's fine. Sorry about... disappearing today. I helped a sick girl on the road and I spent the rest of the day at the hospital, answering questions from the professionals. S-sorry about-"
"What? That sounds unimportant."
"The girl looked like she really needed help. I thought it was okay to at least be a part of this town a little bit," Devon replied. Didn't Lucio have some heart?
"Whatever. Can I come over?"
"W-what? No, you can't come over. Not today. I'm so tired," Devon created that lame excuse quickly. His heart was pounding faster, hitting towards his ribcage.
He did not know why, but something told him not to tell Lucio about Dianne yet. He hated that feeling.
The radars.
The radars that always connected him and Dianne.
They were telling him something...
"I'll get back to you tomorrow," Lucio growled and cut the line.
"Who are you calling? I never thought you had a phone," Dianne stared at her brother curiously. "How long have you been here, actually?"
"Can... can we talk about this tomorrow? My brain is practically forcing me to sleep now," Devon answered with a laugh. He took an old jacket from the back of the motel room door and wrapped it around Dianne's bare shoulders. "You really shouldn't be running around town in a dress like that. It's cold out there."
"I know. I got a lot to tell you too," Dianne yawned as she found a comfortable position on the narrow bed. Devon decided to let her sleep there while he took the couch. "You'll be here tomorrow, right?"
"What? Of course I will," Devon looked surprised. He knelt by Dianne's bedside and kissed her, and they hugged for quite a while. "I'm glad to have you back."
"I'm sorry." That was all Dianne managed to say. "I'm sorry for everything."
He did not need to say anything.
They were twins-she was his half. Not Lucio's. Lucio knew nothing about her. Devon wouldn't let him.
She was his half, his only half.
No matter what, they would always find a way back to each other.
Fight fear for the selfish pain, it was worth it every time
