Declan stayed silent while his mother and Matthew went to the other room to discuss the killing problem that was going on, on the small island. Nothing like this had happened before. It was a small island, which meant you got to learn everybody's story rather quickly. Declan strained his ears to listen to their conversation. Occasionally he would pick up his mother whisper something, but it was never loud enough for him to hear.

Giving up, he decided to go outside and clear his head. The fresh sea air did a lot to get bad thoughts out of his head. He remembered coming out here as a kid when he thought the adult world was to much for him to handle. When Declan was about to walk back inside again he heard the faint string of a song. It was soft, haunting and very alluring. Declan's head suddenly turned fuzzy. But not before his brain could process the thought that the sea air was not behind the sudden rush of dizziness he felt. Even in the midst of the fog that had started seeping into his brain he began to move toward Salem beach without even realizing it. His body was not cooperating with his head. His mind was saying to stop but his legs kept moving never flagging until he reached Salem beach. Then it was as if whatever had held him in its grip vanished. The song ceased in his head and he could once again think clearly.

So clearly that when he got there he immediately spotted a tall, slim figure sitting on a rock near the waters edge. Her hair hung in long, loose strands, trailing down her naked back. That was all he could see before she turned around. He felt his heart stutter at the sight of her. NO! Dammit, he couldn't feel this way, he thought. Even though her beauty went unsurpassed every time he saw her. And he couldn't

Stop thinking about the last time he saw her. He wanted to rush over there and take her in his arms and console every ache she must have ever felt, living the way that she did. Always killing, always alone. It must have been hard but he would never know how it felt. She turned her head and he saw her face, it was painted with fear and anguished. He never imagined her looking like that. She was goddess of the sea, the controller of weather. There was nothing that should have scared her. But then Declan didn't know what had happened to her before after she killed her fiancé, who may or not be sitting in his living room drinking tea casually with his mother.

She moved so fast he didn't even see her. before he could blink she was gone from the rock and standing a few inches away from. Declan's breath caught. she smelled like salt water and a beautiful musky flowery smell, that was her own. He had never met anyone like Loreley, nor will he ever again. He realized up close her eyes weren't the full gold he remembered. the iris was a beautiful burnt sun color, outlined in a small electric blue ring. and closer to the pupil it was a lighter brand new gold color. She had the most beautiful eyes he had ever seen. It was she who broke the tension first, looking at him with an urgency that took his breath away.

"What did he say to you," she whispered through clenched teeth. Declan already knew who she was talking about. He didn't need to explain.

"Is it who I think it is?" he asked her. he wanted to be the one with the upper hand when it came to questioning.

"Yes." She made the simple word itself hold so much hate.

"Well, what are you going to do?" He asked. though he had an inkling of what the answer was he still wanted to her it from her. She looked at him with a wiles but cold glint in her eye. And Declan knew he already knew the answer.

"I have to kill him.' she replied.
