Regina's pov:

"Honey, you need to rest." My mother spoke softly as she placed her hands on my shoulders stopping me from getting out of bed. Her action got me angry and i found myself slapping her hands off of me, something i didn't intend to do, but they were suffocating me, her, my father and my brothers. They were hovering over my bed giving me no space to breath, but mostly, stopping me from getting out of bed.

I heaved out a sigh as i raised my hands to massage my temples in attempt to calm myself down. "I'm fine mom."

Shaking her head stubbornly, she gave me an apologetic look. "I'm sorry sweetheart, the doctor said you should rest." She repeated the exact same words the nurse said few seconds ago before leaving my hospital room.

"He also said i was fine!"

"Honey, stop acting stubbornly and do as your mother said." My father who was sitting on the side of the bed spoke.

At that, i lost it, all attempts to calm myself down were thrown behind my back and i found myself snapping at my family. "I said i'm fine! Don't you fucking understand?! I'm not the one who got shot, my best friend is still in the operations room, i need to go and see her, i need to make sure she's okay, so let me out." It hurt me so much to say those words, it confirmed that it's all real.

At five pm Roxanne Alderson, my best friend, got shot, the bullet hit her in the side of her stomach. I still can hear the sound of gunshot ringing in my ears, i still can hear her whispering my name softly, i still can see her hazel eyes looking back at mine with no life in them and every time i look at my hands, i still see them stained with her blood.

When it happened, i nearly fainted from fear, but i got grip on myself and stood on my shaky feet then walked towards her, collapsing by her side and collecting her cold and limp body to my chest, i was able to feel her heavy breaths, i called after her, telling her to stay awake, begging for her to not leave me, however she didn't reply to my plea. Panicking, i pushed all the bad thoughts away, using the remaining power in me to dial the emergencies number, telling them that my friend got shot before giving them the school's address. I don't remember anything after that, it's like there's an empty gape in my memory and the next thing i knew was my mother hugging me tightly as she sobbed while i sat in a hospital room. It all feels like a nightmare.

Finally, my mother gave in, allowing me to leave the room. I slipped on my shoes quickly before storming out of the room. The operations room was in the floor bellow this one so i took the elevator, pressing at the buttons harshly and waiting for it to start moving impatiently.

Once i reached my distance, i asked one of the nurses who worked in that floor and she told me that they were still operating her. So i sat on one of the cold metallic chairs in the hallway, my eyes gazing at the door of the operations room.

Suddenly, i heard footsteps approaching me and when i looked up i met the worried eyes of Mr and Mrs Alderson which made me wonder; when did they arrive? Nonetheless, i stood up quickly giving them both an apologetic look as i spoke. "I'm really sorry...this...is all my fault...i'm sorry." I looked down at my feet feeling ashamed of looking them straight in the eyes. "I didn't mean for this to--" i was shocked when Mrs Alderson engulfed me in a tight hug as she broke down crying.

"It's okay, honey." She sobbed. "We know everything." She added.

"I'm sorry." I mumbled.

"No, it's not your fault...we know the real truth." She broke the hug, smiling through her tears. "You were trying to protect her, we get it, you're such a brave girl, Regina."

I blinked away the tears, refusing to cry in front of them as i asked. "H-how do you know?"

"We talked to the cops, they showed us the video which that boy Brody filmed and then they explained the real story to us, we know you lied and said that you bullied that girl's sister just so she would let Roxy go." Mr Alderson elaborated.
