The Art of Breaking

You talk but you don't speak

You listen but you don't hear

You look but you don't see

You want to cry

But you smile anyway

You want to scream

But you laugh instead

You want to run anywhere from here

But you sit down in a chair

Someone tells you a joke

You force a laugh

Someone tells you a story

You try to listen and care

But it's just too hard

You can't take it anymore

So you run

And everyone stares

But still you run

You cry and scream

You let loose everything

People follow you

But you don't notice

People hug you

But you don't care

You start to shake

And you start to yell

You look at the sky

And plead to God

That everything would end

People try to calm you down

To make you see reason

But you're too far gone

You wonder why you're here

If there is nothing but pain

You wonder what's the point

When your heart's already dying

But you know no one can help you

So you shut your mouth

And close your eyes

You lay on the ground

Everyone freezes and stares

They wonder what you'll do next

But you lay still

And get your emotions in check

You won't show them weakness

You will show them you're strong

And they will believe it once more

Though this one time you broke

you WILL be okay.
