“Chloe?” It was Bella. Was it morning already? I slowly sat up, why was she waking me up? It was senior skip day; I didn’t have to go to school. I pulled myself out of bed and opened my door.

“Yeah?” I asked, wiping the sleep out of my eyes.

“Can you come down stairs for a minute?” Bella asked, she was dressed and carrying a suitcase. Something was wrong.

“Sure,” I grabbed my slipper and headed down stairs, following Bella. Edward and uncle Charlie were waiting for us. I looked from Charlie to Edward, my arm was starting to hurt again, I had forgotten to out the sling back on.

“What’s going on?” Bella sat down on the couch beside Edward; I noticed that she had left her suit case in the hall.

Edward looks at Bella, then at me. “My parents gave Bella a pair of airline tickets last year for her birthday so she could go see her mother in Florida. The tickets are about to expire so Bella and I are flying down today and will be back Monday night.” I stared at Edward for a minute; they were going to Florida, for the weekend, together, alone. “Uh, ok,” I said, still not really sure why Bella had woke me up.

“Chloe,” I looked at Uncle Charlie, “something came up at the station, something important, so I will be gone all weekend. I talked to Carlisle and he said that in your current condition you cannot be left alone all weekend.”

I looked from Charlie to Bella, current condition? I had a broken arm; I didn’t need a baby sitter. So what was Charlie going to do with me? There was no way I was going to spend the weekend with the Cullen’s.

Charlie looked back at me, “Billy Black, he lives in La Push, has offered to let you stay with him and his son, Jacob.” I saw Edward tense out of the corner of my eyes, was this the same person that had been in the hospital?

“What time do I have to be there?” I asked without thinking.

Charlie smiled, “I’m going to take you, and we have to leave in half an hour.”

I nodded, “I better go pack then.” I walked over to Bella and gave her a hug, “have fun in Florida.” I smiled quickly then went up the stairs.

I looked at the full duffle bag sitting on my bed. I packed enough clothes to last for a week and all my meds that Carlisle wanted me to take. I grabbed the bag and headed down stairs. Charlie was waiting for me; he took my bag as soon as he could. I smiled in thanks and followed him to the car. He told me about Billy, Jacob, and La Push as he drove. When I had lived in Forks I had never been to La Push, to be honest, I didn’t even know it existed. I found out that Billy was one of Charlie’s best friends and Jacob was his sixteen, almost seventeen, year old son.   Charlie apologized for sending me to stay with Billy like this, but he promised he would make it up to me.

I stared out the window as we entered the outskirts of La Push. It was a small town, a very small town, but it was nice. Charlie drove through the town and down a dirt road; he parked in front of a wood cabin. This must be where Billy and Jacob lived. It was nice, rustic and nothing like I was used to, but nice. I opened my door and stepped out, being careful not to get my sling stuck in the door. Charlie grabbed my bag out of the back and headed towards the house. I pulled my jacket on and followed him; at least it wasn’t raining here.
