Chloe zipped her duffle bag and stood up. She had packed enough clothes to last all weekend. Hopefully she wouldn’t have to stay that long. She glanced around her room, making sure she hadn’t forgotten anything. She had her phone, car keys, laptop, and pepper spray incase anyone tried to get to friendly. Chloe sighed and picked her bag up, it was time to go. She headed down stairs, closing her bedroom door behind her. Bella was waiting at the bottom of the steps for her.
“Ready to go?” Bella asked.
“Yeah,” Chloe pulled her keys out of her pocket. “Call me as soon as you know anything. I want to know when Victoria is coming.”
“I will.” Bella pulled Chloe into a quick hug. “Be careful.”
“I will,” Chloe pulled away and smiled. “You too.”
Bella nodded as Chloe walked to the door, she opened it and stepped out, closing it behind her. She opened her car and tossed her bag in the back. She looked at the house one more time before starting her car. She had a feeling that after this weekend nothing would be the same.
30 minutes later she entered La Push. It was like a different world here, a much poorer world. She turned down a dirt road that lead to Leah’s house. Her house was small and looked very similar to Jake’s.
“You made it.” Leah walked out of the house, smiling. Seth and a woman, who Chloe guessed was their mother, followed.
“Hi.” Chloe grabbed her bag and closed the door. “Thank you for inviting me to stay with you.”
“You’re welcome.” Leah took her bag. “We couldn’t let you stay with Jake.” She grinned, “besides, Seth needs another girl to tease him.”
Chloe laughed, “I’m sure he does.”
Seth rolled his eyes, “come on. I’ll show you to your room.”
Chloe followed Seth inside. It was nice, comfortable. It felt like a home. Seth lead her upstairs to a small room. It had a window on one side that faced a large tree.
“Thanks, its nice.” Chloe said.
“Sure, whatever.” Seth said, annoyed. “He’s going to miss you.”
Chloe looked out the window. “Who?”
“You know who. Jake.” Seth walked towards the door. “He still cares about you, though I don’t see why. You obviously like the blood suckers more.”
“Things are complicated, Seth.” She turned to look at him. “You wouldn’t understand.”
“I understand. You’re scared to admit how you feel so you pushed him away and replaced him with someone else.” He sighed. “Dinner is in 30 minutes.”
Chloe sat down on the edge of the bed as he walked out. What had Jake told him?
“What did he say?” Leah asked as she walked in. “Seth looked frustrated.”
“That I’m a fool for letting Jake go.” Chloe looked at Leah. “Maybe I am, but I’ve made my choice.”
“Have you?” Leah asked. “Its never to late to change your mind.”
Chloe looked away, her thoughts drifting to Jasper. “Yes, it is.”
Leah was quiet for a moment. “Not if you don’t want it to be.” She stood and walked out, leaving Chloe to her thoughts.
It was almost midnight when Chloe walked back into her room. After dinner she watched a movie with Leah and Seth. Then one movie turned into two, then three. She quickly changed into her pajama’s, a black t-shirt and shorts.
