Despite fighting for the past few months, nothing has me more tense than staring down the other God's around me. Each one, is a ruler of their own separate realm and each are powerful in their own rights. In the fight against Leonas, I felt a lot of that power despite her still training to use those powers. The Gods of earth, fire, water, air, and foresight, the most powerful Gods to exist, are all awaiting my answer for the Throne. I'll still refuse and have Kysil watch over it until I'm ready.
"I'm not ready to take the Throne." I tell them all, "I lack the strength to assume it, so I'd like Kysil to watch over it for the time being.""You say you lack the strength, but your so called 'lack of strength,' changed the landscape outside the city you were protecting from Nada." Noric strokes his beard in deep thought, "I don't know what strength you need, but it seems you won't be swayed by us old folks."
"I'm not old yet!" Meric laughs out loud while slapping his knee. These Gods are all of different characters. The older Gods such as Noric and Deriose are serious and thoughtful. Deriose is a lot more playful than Noric. Eiri and Lori are silent but scornful. The God of air is nearly a colorless God. Her short white hair and grey eyes stand out. Her white robe makes her shine in the dim lighting. Lori looks a lot like the Goddess of my world. She has dark blue eyes and long light blue hair that reminds me of...me. Meric is like a drunken uncle in the winter. He's jolly, but gives off a serious feeling of power. Leonas did say they were second to my family.
In a sense, they're a big family, a very powerful and disoriented one, but a family nonetheless. As it stands, my biological family is gone. Although Kysil was adopted by my Father, she's no longer a part of my family. I'm...alone. Seeing everyone around me happy, brings a sense of dread inside of me. If I stayed here in this world, I wouldn't see them everyday and my existence would only get lonelier.
"Relaria?" Noric snaps me out of my thoughts, "We must know, are you going to ascend the Throne and be our ruler? If not, you'll have to give up your powers and return to the human world."
"As I just stated, she will not and she won't be giving up her powers." Kysil says, "I know it's against our rules, but she's still going to overlook it."
"We must abide by the rules we set in place when we were born." Noric argues, "We cannot just let the rules slip for this girl!"
"If you'll shut up for one minute old man-"
"Shut it!" My voice echoes around the room and the clamoring quiets down, "The only reason I'm not going to take the Throne nor give my powers to another, is this exact reason. I may not know much about your rules or your world, but I do know mine. I made a promise to some that I'm not going to break. I made a promise to save those that are still being affected by this war. I'm not about to break those promises that I made, whether I'm a God or a human. As it stands, the way you are all arguing, none of you are ready to take these powers for yourself and ascend the Throne!"
"You sound as if you're able to control us and lead us." Noric glares at me. The old man is challenging mine and Kysil's decision. "A God that lived in the human world is too soft and will never learn our ways."
"Relaria is not soft." Leonas chimes in, "If you want a war with my family's decision to follow her, then you can have one. I may sound selfish for believing in someone that we barely know, but I for one have felt her strength and her ability to keep fighting even when she's beaten. We ALL saw that fight she had with Nada. She was beaten, but she wasn't going to let her friends down after what had happened to them. Even with no one left, she knew that there was a whole world at stake and she wasn't going to let that happen. I'll say it once more, if you want a war, then you can have one. I respect Relaria."
I try not to smile at the disgruntled old man. Leonas' sudden intervention seemed to have calmed him down a little. He closes his eyes and strokes his beard taking in her words. I look over at Leonas and give her a smile. She throws a thumbs up at me as her father forces her to sit back down. "Girl." Noric slowly opens his eyes, "If you've gained the respect of the God of fire, I cannot argue with them or your decision. Please accept my apology. I was acting out of character and not thinking about the others."
"No need to apologize." I say calmly, "I know that there are certain rules that you all follow, but please respect my decision. I'm not like my Father or sister. Maybe growing up a human was a good thing. It kept me away from this world. It kept me away from all this influence. I know nothing of your world, but I'm willing to learn so that one day, I may lead you all to the best of my abilities."
"So young, yet so thoughtful and patient." Lori finally speaks, "I think this is good for our world and we should respect our young leader's request. If she wishes to continue helping people, then let her. She has a lot of trust to build back up after her family threw it all away. It's good to be a part of the world's we preside over. I think we should let her do as she wishes unless we see it unfit."
"I guess I could keep an eye on her for us." Eiri smiles, "At least she's a kind person unlike her Father. I approve of course."
"I guess my stubbornness isn't enough anymore." Noric chuckles, "I guess I'll let the girl do what she wants. However, if her powers become uncontrollable, I'll step in and stop her myself."
"Oh please do old man!" Leonas laughs as Meric hides a smile, "Even now, she could wipe the floor with you!"
"Please Leonas, act like I taught you." Meric clears his throat and smiles, "You act too much like me!" The two burst into laughter as the others join in. I smile at the thought of them understanding my wishes. I'll make sure that I won't wind up like my Father and sister.
"I believe we're done here." Kysil says calming down and scanning the room, "If no one has any objections, we can end this meeting now." No one says anything and nods approvingly, "My apologies for keeping you here so long, but please be safe and keep watching over your realms."
"It was nice seeing everyone again." Deriose, who's been quiet this whole time, says, "Relaria, you know where to find us. Please, don't be a stranger and visit sometime."
"I want monthly check-ins okay?" Kysil asks, "I won't ask for anything else."
"Sounds like a fair deal." I smile, "You guys are a nice family."
Kysil giggles at the thought, "Well despite how much we argue, I guess you could say that." After a few moments of silence, she speaks again, "No matter how you look at it, you're a great leader. Sometimes, your actions are better than your words and we all watched you fight your sister. No matter what, you were going to put a stop to your family's actions."
"If only she didn't become corrupted and listened to my father, I might still have a family." I close my eyes and try to remember the days when I was with them, but to no avail. Since I'm unable to completely control my powers, I can't stay in one place nor have anyone close to me. I'd hate for anyone to die because I lost control.
"I know what you're thinking," Kysil closes her eyes to think carefully of her next few words, "but, you're not alone and never will be. Don't forget those that you've met and helped and I'm sure you'll pull through. Don't worry about what could happen, just worry about controlling it when it does happen. You have a lot of people who look up to you and love you. You may not have a family, but everyone you've helped is your family. Lean on them sometimes and they'll carry you forwards. Sometimes, it's nice to ask for help."
"Thank you." I whisper, "I think it's time I go home."
"Yes," She nods, "there are people that need your help and you're not saying no."
"Of course." I smile. I'm finally free to do what I want and what I want to do, is help whoever needs it...
