Chapter 3- Battle Royal

A\N You guys are just eating this story up. It  gets me pumped to write some more. This chapter is just the beginning of seeing Gladion. Of course it's going to escalate as we move on along the island and pass more trials. Especially as we get to route 8. He does have a room at the hotel there (it's only when you first get to route 8 if you're playing the game. I'm not sure if he'll be there after you leave the island)

You looked at Gladion. Why was he so grumpy? Out of nowhere two skull thugs came up behind him, "Yo what do ya thing yo doing? Messing with squirts isn't on the agenda,yo" one of them said. Gladion glared at them, "I do as I please" he said. The other thug spoke up, "You lucky the boss likes you and lets you run little errands for him. But you'll never amount to being actually part of team skull,twerp" he said. Gladion didn't budge and just left alongside with them. How can he stand being with those people? They're so rude, trying to kidnap Pokemon. You hope he's wasn't stuck with him. Please be careful, Gladion.

"Hey (Y\N) where'd you get this little cutie?" Hau asked as Eevee licked his face. You turned to face him, "The Pokemon nursery. Eevee had no owner, so I took it in as one of my own" you told him. Hau handed Eevee back to you, "Cool. We better go heal up our Pokemon after that battle with Glad-ion. More like Mad-ion" he laughed. You wanted to scold Hau for making fun of his name but you let it side. After all he still was a stranger to you.

Hau left to do his own thing after the two of you healed up your Pokemon. No problem, you had a trial to focus on.After the trail with Lana, the next stop  was the Battle Royal. You made your way through route 6 to Royal Avenue. But before you can even step foot, you encountered two skull thugs trying to take a Driftloon from a girl and her Mudsdale. The small girl wore a purple bonnet and a tan outfit. She looked to you and ask for your assistance. You were eager to help. After destroying the thugs in battle, they fled. The girl then introduced herself, but she had to leave. But you had a feeling you'd see her around.

As you entered the Royal Avenue, you took a look around. The place was beautiful and full of trainers with their Pokemon. Everyone seemed happy and full of energy. While approaching the battle dome, you managed to catch a glimpse of someone familiar, Gladion. You couldn't exactly hear what he was saying but something about 'burying his sorrows'. Who goes to battle when you're sad? You're supposed to be excited to battle. There was something about him that made you want to know him better. As soon as he was out of sight, you entered the battle dome after him.

The inside was bigger than you thought. All around you people were pumped to battle. "Hey (Y\N)!" someone called you. You looked at the top of the staircase and saw Hau. You waved back and he came running down to greet you. "You two look like a couple of young trail goers", some man in a mask said as he approached us. Hau was in awe," You're the Masked Royal! Cool!" he said excited.There was something oddly familiar about this masked man. Though you couldn't put a finger on it. While the Masked Royal explained what a battle royal was, you saw Gladion walk passed him from behind. You were curious. "So you two will join me in a battle royal. You two along with...", the Masked Royal turned around and pointed at Gladion "..and you. You look like you need some fun young man" he said. Gladion looked at him, but didn't say anything. "All four of us will battle it out right now. Come on. Whoo!" the Masked Royal said excited. You looked at Gladion, observing him in a non-creepy way. He looked back at you, with an angry expression. You jumped a little but decided to smile back. He rolled his eyes, causing you to giggle. It wasn't long until you all entered the dome for the battle royal.

When the battle was over, you all walked out together. "That battle made my hungry. You guys want to go to the malasada shop here?" Hau asked. You nodded, "Sure" you agreed. Hau looked at Gladion, "How about you mister grumpy pants?" Hau asked with a cheeky grin. Gladion looked annoyed, "I think I'll pass" he said. He flashed a quick glance at you, making you blush slightly. "No you're coming with us", Hau told him while pulling his arm. Gladion resisted and Hau tried harder to pull him, "(Y\N) help me. You know he wants to come with us. He's just being shy" Hau told you. You were sure Gladion didn't want to come but if it meant seeing him longer, you were happy to help. As Hau pulled his arms, you pushed him from behind. After a while Gladion just gave up resisting.
