Chapter 8-Research Dimensional Lab

A\N I hoped you guys had a Happy New Year's Day! Enjoy the first chapter of 2017. I'm planning some action for chapter 9. You never know, there could still be some rampaging Digletts.

You and Gladion arrived back in Royale Avenue. It was around evening, but a lot of people were still running about. Your next concern was going to face the island kahuna who was going to be past Route 9. You turned to tell him something but he spoke first, "Do you mind if I leave? I...have some business to do" he said. You were a little puzzled. Why didn't he just leave on his own like he does? If you two were closer now, I guess him asking is a step in the right direction, "Um sure. But will I be able to see you again?" you asked him. You wanted him to stay with you on your journey, though you understood he had things to take care of. He thought for a second, "I'm sure we'll cross paths again. It may be sooner than you think. So don't worry. I'll see you later then" he said with a hint of something unusual in his voice. Sadness? Worry? Who knew? You wanted to give him a hug but he already left. Eevee looked like it wanted to follow him but knew you would be sad without it. You pat Eevee on the head, "I'm sure we'll see each other soon, like he said. We just have to keep busy until then" you reassured it. You weren't sure why you did, but you did want to see him again. You had mixed emotion for him in a way. You wanted to be friends and maybe something even more, if you ever got the chance.

The next morning, you packed up your things and went back to Heahea City. Route 9 was just around the corner. But before you could get there, you ran into Lillie, "Hi (Y\N) it's been awhile since we've last seen each other. I hope your trials have gone well" she smiled. You nodded, "Of course. I passed them all with flying colors" you said. "That's good. The professor wants us to meet him at the dimensional research lab. Follow me" she told you. Something seemed a little off about her today. She could just be tired, you guessed. You followed Lillie into a nearby building and joined her on the elevator to the second floor. As you walked into the room, you could see the professor. It looked like he just got here, "Hi there Honey" he greeted a woman with a smile. Honey? The professor was married, not to your surprise. The woman approached. She wore a warm smile and a simple gray tank top with black tights. Her hair was kept up with a green headband, "This is Professor Burnet. She runs the dimensional research lab and is also my wife" Kukui told you. "Hi there. You must be (Y\N). I've heard much about you from Lillie" she said looking around "No Hau today, I see". Kukui chuckled, "He'll be here soon I'm sure" he said. "I'm here!" you heard someone shout. You looked behind you to see Hau come running up, "So what's up?" he asked. You turned to look at the professors,"I wanted you to give Hau and (Y\N) some insight into the mysteries of the ultra-wormholes" Kukui told Burnet. Professor Burnet liked the idea, "I'd love to" she said "These wormholes are said to open up rarely over the Alolan skies and are supposed to lead to another dimension" she explained. You never knew there could be such a thing, although the thought did amaze you. "We believe this because of the legends of the island guardians fending off fearsome beast who came from these worm holes", Burnet continues " Though the proof is little but we have evidence that come from the pokedex that concern some Pokemon such as Bronzong, Palkia and Giratina" she said. Wow. So this whole theory could be caused from some ultra-beast that could be related to Pokemon. It all seemed Magikarpy. Yet, if the professor believes it, it must be true.

You explored the lab a little bit and looked at all the research that has been done. The whole thing was amazing. You talked to Lillie who told you that Burnet found her and Nebby passed out on the beach and that Burnet was like a mother to her. If Lillie stays with the professor on Melemele Island, then where did she come from? Or maybe you were just thinking too much of it. After spending more time at the lab, you excused yourself to make your way onto Route 9. People also call Route 9, Diglett cave, for its abundance of Diglett. You heard that there was a recent rampage earlier but the problem was now over with. You still felt the need to take a flashlight with you, just in case.

Diglett cave was a bit dark and quiet. It be nice to have somebody with you, besides Eevee wasn't so comfortable either. As you were wrapped up in your thoughts, you heard a voice from behind, "(YN)" it said. You jumped a bit and quickly turned around. Eevee cried in excitement. It was Gladion. You settled down, "It's not nice to sneak up behind someone" you told him. He smirked, "I wasn't sneaking up on you" he was quiet for a moment "So, going through Diglett cave" he said interested. You nodded a bit unsure, "Yes. I must go to Konikoni city to battle the kahuna" you told him. You were happy to see him, but you weren't going to show it. "I see. Then we better get going" he told you already walking ahead. He just straight up invited himself to walk with you. You didn't mind, but still. He didn't even ask. You caught up to him, "Hey, you can't just invite yourself" you told him with an attitude. He looked at you, "You need me with you. So I'm just saving us some time" he responded. You needed him? You were fine without him. You weren't sure why you were getting all fired up,"I don't need you and is it so hard to ask?" you told him. He ignored you and kept walking, "Alright fine you can come along" you said giving up. He chuckled a bit, "Was that hard?" he asked. You glared at him. He was teasing you and you liked it.
