Chapter 7- Finishing the Trial

A\N I enjoyed writing this chapter. It made me laugh. A good romance isn't good without some fun between the two lovers ;) Not sure when I'll be updating next because of New Years Day coming up. But I will update ASAP.

Both of you were quiet for a little bit, a bit embarrassed from Mallow remarks. Eventually you found 4 out of the 5 items. All that was left was the miracle seed. You hoped it wouldn't be too hard to find, for something sort of small. You and Gladion looked for what it seemed like forever, until Gladion managed to point it out "It's up there hanging on the branch" he said. You looked up, you didn't think you were going to be able to reach it. The branch was about ten feet high and neither you nor Gladion were tall enough to even jump for it. "I don't have any flying Pokemon. Don't you have a Zubat?" you asked recalling your first battle with him. He nodded and called out his Zubat, "Can you get that miracle seed for us Zubat?" he asked it. Us? You were the one on the trial, but you didn't mind. Zubat flew up and grabbed the miracle seed in its mouth and then brought it down. But before Gladion could take it, something came out of the bushes and tackled Zubat. You jumped, startled and Eevee hid behind you. Zubat fell to the ground and letting go of the miracle seed. The thing from the bushes turned out to be a Fomantis. It looked adorable and was until it decided to pick up the miracle seed and run off with it. Gladion helped Zubat up, "Are you ok Zubat?" he asked. Zubat nodded and began to fly around again with no problem. "I wonder why Fomantis took the miracle seed?" you said. Gladion shrugged, "Aren't the Pokemon in trial areas trained by the captain? Perhaps it's a challenge" he suggested. It made sense. There was always that one Pokemon in each trial that seemed to cause you problems. "We better go after it. We need that miracle seed", you told him. He nodded and you both ran after Fomantis with Eevee and Zubat.

Since Zubat was able to fly, it was able to keep track of Fomantis. That was until it decided to hide. You all stopped, "Zubat is it anywhere?" Gladion asked. Zubat seemed confused. "If Fomantis wants to play hide and seek then maybe we should play along", you said. Gladion didn't seem so sure at first but he decided to give it a try. "We better look elsewhere Gladion", you said loud enough for Fomantis to hear. Gladion rolled his eyes at your cheap pretending. Both of you then hide nearby. After a few minutes Fomantis came out of hiding and tried to go the opposite way. Zubat came flying down and blocked its way. Fomantis jumped in surprise and ran towards your direction. As it drew near you decided to leap out of your hiding place to catch it. With all your strength you jumped out of the bushes to catch Fomantis, but you missed and landed on your face instead. You could faintly hear Gladion chuckle from somewhere close by, "That wasn't funny Gladion" you said a bit disappointed that you missed. You didn't get a response. Eevee jumped over you and started to chase Fomantis. It looked like it was having fun. As Eevee chased Fomantis, you saw Gladion dropped down from a tree branch getting ready to grab Fomantis. Gathering up speed, Fomantis attempted to leap over Gladion, but he jumped up and caught it. The only problem was Eevee never stopped running and accidentally tackled Gladion, hitting him in his stomach. You quickly got up and ran over, "Are you ok Gladion?" you asked. Eevee laid there on his stomach and wagged its tail, "I'm...fine" he responded sounding like he got the wind knocked out of him. You giggled for some reason, the whole thing was just funny. You picked Eevee up, "It's not funny" Gladion told you. He sat up, still holding Fomantis, "Well you laughed at me when I fell" you said "It's only fair I laugh at you". Gladion rolled his eyes but you saw him flash a smile. You set Eevee down and took Fomantis from Gladion, "We caught you Fomantis. Can we please have the miracle seed?" you asked nicely. Fomantis handed you the miracle seed and then hopped out of your arms and left. Gladion stood up,"Well that was fun" he said a little sarcastic. You smiled, "It was fun. I enjoyed it. It certainly made my day" you told him. He looked at you, "You know what made my day?" he asked. You were expecting something cute but you should've know he was up to something, "No what made your day?" you asked him. He chuckled a bit, "Seeing you fall on your face" he said. You wanted to smack him playfully but you ended up laughing instead, "You're right that was funny wasn't it" you agreed. He seemed a little shocked that you agreed, "The way you dove for Fomantis and you thought you had it, but you ended up face first in the dirt" he continued. Now you really wanted to smack him, but you knew he was just trying to get you mad. Typical boy behavior, always teasing. "Yea Yea I know. At least I'm not the one who got tackled" you said. Eevee jumped up in excitement as if to agree and Zubat fluttered it wings rapidly. Gladion shook his head but smiled, "Come on lets go finish your trial" he said. You nodded and followed him back to the entrance.

"Nice to see you two made it back safe and sound. Fomantis didn't give you any trouble?" Mallow asked winking. "No trouble at all", you told her. Gladion didn't say anything. You gave Mallow the ingredients, "Now time to make the special brew" Mallow said. It wasn't long until you were joined by trial captains Lana and Kiawe. Mallow took the Rocky Helmet from Lana and the rare bones from Kiawe. She them put the ingredients you gathered into the Rocky Helmet and then gave you the rare bone, "Time to mash up the ingredients" Mallow told you. You took the rare bone and mashed up the ingredients until a sweet smelling aroma filled the area. It felt like something was suddenly watching you. You looked around. The trial captains backed away to give you some room, "(Y\N) the totem Pokemon" Gladion said. That's right. You've yet to face it. Out of the bushes came Lurantis,it cried out wanting to battle. You backed up a little intimidated from its size. You saw Gladion standing on the sidelines. You had to get it together, he came to support you. You reached for Torracat's pokeball and summoned it out, "Let's show the totem Pokemon our strength Torracat!" you cried confidently. Torracat roared proudly in response. Torracat had no problem fighting Lurantis, but it did have the jungle to use as an advantage. To finish it off, you gave Lurantis a taste of your Firinium Z. The battle was over and Lurantis retreated.To congratulate you, Mallow gave you Grassinium Z.

You and Gladion left the Lush Jungle, "You...battle really well" Gladion told you attempting to congratulate you. "Thank you. I've couldn't have done it without your help finding those ingredients", you said. He blushed a bit, "So do you still need me to walk you back to Royal Avenue?" he asked. So he still wanted to walk with you. That's a good sign. But why did he say 'need'? Did that battle prove to him that you were confident to handle yourself? Not that you never were to begin with. I guess he wanted to make sure you'd be ok by yourself. "Well", you started "I don't need you to, but I'd like it if you still walked with me" you told him honestly. He smiled for a second, "I see. Then we better get going. That trial almost took all day" he said. You smiled happily. You were excited that he decided to stay.
