A\N You know I felt the tension in this chapter, but I enjoyed writing it. At the current moment, I'm watching the anime series of Pokemon Sun and Moon. The only thing is I have to watch in Japanese, which I have no problem with because I'm taking Japanese classes so it'll help me and I've watched other anime in Japanese so I'm completely fine with it. But America needs to get with the program and translate it already. I'm only watching it cuz 1) I like watching Pokemon and 2) Ya'll know I'm waiting for Gladion to show his cute emo ass in the series ;). I can't wait until I see him. I'll let ya'll know which episode he appears in,when he does.
By the time you got back to the Aether house, something horrible had happened. The Yungoos was happy to be returned but the kids and Hau looked extremely worried. Lillie was also nowhere in sight. You asked Hau what was wrong. He hesitated to say something at first, "Team Skull...they took her" he said with no happiness in his tone. The children chimed in, "Miss Lillie is gone" they said. This wasn't good. You just came back from a rescue mission, just to have a friend taken from you. "They ambushed us after Acerola left to go find you two in Po Town. But Lillie stood up for us. She protected us and she's not even a trainer. Even I couldn't do anything to defend her. All I know is that she went to try to protect Cosmog" Hau told you. You looked at Gladion. Lillie was his sister. He wasn't going to be happy. All that was written on Gladion's face was anger, "Lillie had Cosmog and you guys didn't tell me!" he said in a fit of rage "Didn't I tell you to protect it! That it was going to bring disaster!" he continued. Acerola instinctively took the two kids into the back room. This was probably going to get ugly. Gladion glared harshly at Hau, "Didn't I tell you to take care of Lillie!" he growled at him. Poor Hau looked terrified. You stepped in between them, "It's not Hau's fault. He did what he could" you said defending him. The anger in Gladion's eyes...you've never seen them this way before. You understood why he was angry, but he had no right to take it out on Hau. You looked Gladion in his eyes, trying your best to soothe his anger. But to no avail. He stepped close to you, using his height to gain the upper hand. You weren't scared of him. Ok maybe tension in the room made you feel uneasy. You stood you ground, glaring back at him. He glanced at Hau as if to set his sight on his next target. You pushed him back, before he could even think of walking past you. You saw a flash of astonishment on Gladion's face. You couldn't bear to watch your friends fight each other. Hau was innocent and Gladion knew it. He was just be stubborn and immature. Seeing this side of Gladion, scared you. Not as in fear, but it reminded you of what he like when you first met him. It was like the bond between you two had vanished. "If you want to defend him then fine! I'll show you how wrong you are to be sided with him", Gladion told you. How could he say that? You were doing what was right. Hau was innocent. Also, did Gladion feel betrayed by you? Did he want you to stand by him instead of Hau? "I am by your side Gladion! You're just not thinking straight! Hau is not to blame! No one is!" you told him firmly. You weren't sure why you were raising your voice. Maybe to make sure he could hear you. You saw a range of emotions on Gladion's face. Anger. Sadness. Confusion. Hurt. It looked like his mind was fighting over his emotions. His anger seemed to simmer down but his hurt took control. "If no one's is to blame then prove it. Battle me" he demanded. If the only way to get to Gladion was through a battle, so be it. You nodded, "I will" you told him. Gladion went out the door, without another word. Once he was gone, Hau ran up to you, "(Y\N) you didn't have to do that" he said. You sighed. This whole thing made your head hurt. You wanted to ditch this argument and go save Lillie. But you cared for Gladion, more than ever. You must fix him first. "I had to Hau. He was going to beat the Tauros Crap out of you" you said. Hau looked just as mentally drained as you did, "There must be something going on between you two. You made him think about it. I don't think he would've listen to anyone else" he said. You and Gladion did have something, but you weren't sure what it was. You knew how you felt. But did Gladion share the same feelings? It was like all he was giving you was mixed signals. It was annoying. But now wasn't the time to decide on relationships. He was your friend first, you had to help him if you wanted any hope of loving him.
You walked outside with Hau behind you. Gladion was already standing out in front for a battle. Let's hope this battle can change his mind and calm him down. You got in position for a battle. You really didn't want to do this, it felt wrong. But you agreed to it. If there was one Pokemon that could help you in this moment, it was Sylveon. You called it out to battle and explained the problem. Sylveon nodded in understanding. Spreading it's feelers out wide, it let out a soothing aura. You felt the aura effects on you. You were no longer frustrated. Gladion on the other hand, looked to be fighting it. He called out Null to the battle. Sylveon skipped up to it and exchanged some word with Null. Null looked back at its trainer, clearing sensing what was wrong. Sylveon returned to your side of the field. "Null Tackle now", Gladion called out. For once, Null disobeyed. Null knew that Gladion didn't have a clear mind and without a clear mind, one shouldn't battle. Gladion looked frustrated at Null's disobedience, "I said tackle", he repeated. Null shook its head, still refusing to battle. You didn't give Sylveon any commands. Perhaps Null could talk him down, in its own way. You decided to take this moment to speak, "Null knows this is wrong. A trainer shouldn't battle when they're angry. You're Pokemon can feel it too. If you're upset, they're going to be too and the whole point of a battle is to show the bond between you and your Pokemon. I know you're upset that Lillie has be taken, but lashing out won't save her. Hau is truly sorry for not being able to help her. But the only thing that matters now is that we go and save her, Gladion" you explained. Null agreed with what you said, it turned around to face Gladion. You watched as Null and Gladion exchanged looks. It was like they had this whole conversation just by looking at each other. After their stare down, it looked like Null was the winner. You still saw a bit of frustration in Gladion's face. He turned around, "Ok ok you guys are right" he started "I was wrong and I'm sorry to have dragged you into a meaningless battle, I'm sorry to have yelled at you and Hau" he apologized. Null walked up beside him in a comforting way. Gladion stroked the top of its mask, still looking upset. Maybe he still needed some time to calm down. You were glad he came to understand. Sylveon released its aura again, taking away the tension in the air. You felt like you needed to take a nap, these type of things just wear you out.
You, Sylveon and Hau went back inside and waited a good while before Gladion came back inside. He looked more emotionally stable, which was good, "Alright let's go save Lillie" he finally said. Easier said than done. "We don't know where they took her. It couldn't be Po Town. You two were just there" Hau said. He nodded, "I know where she is. The Aether Foundation" he said. You and Hau were a bit confused, but now wasn't the time to ask questions, "If you say so but how will we get there?" you asked. You'd have to take a boat. Did Gladion have access to a boat? "The boat docks. I'll get us there. The sooner we leave the better" he said. Well no time like the present.
