Chapter 4- Salandit

You and Hau took Gladion to the malasada shop and all sat down together. You set Eevee on the seat between you and Hau and looked at the list of malasada on the small menu Hau gave you. You weren't sure which one you wanted, but you felt the need for something sweet. So the sweet malasada it is. You looked up at Gladion, who had his arms crossed and didn't even bother to look at his menu. You wondered what was on his mind. His emerald eyes were so focused. You were tempted to ask him, but you knew he wouldn't tell you. Hau seemed to be in  his own world talking about the different types of malasadas. You didn't mean to be rude and ignore him. You were just more interested in Gladion. "So (Y/N) what do you want? I'll order for ya", Hau asked. You looked his way, " Sweet malasada " you told him. He nodded, "How about you Gladion, want anything?" Hau said. Gladion shook his head and didn't even bother to look at him. Hau shrugged and stood up," Ok but you're missing out" he said before he left to go order.

It was awkward sitting at the table alone with Gladion, who didn't even say anything or look at you. You badly wanted to say something, but wasn't so sure he'd talk back to you. You took out a book from your bag and started to read. Well not really read. You look next to you to check on Eevee but it wasn't there. Maybe Hau took Eevee with him, you thought. When you looked back up you noticed two ears poking up on the other side of the table next to Gladion. You wanted to call Eevee back but you were interested to see what would happen. You pretended to keep reading while you watched as Eevee placed its front paws on Gladion's arm to get his attention. Gladion looked down at Eevee. His expression seemed to soften, as if Eevee was too cute to resist. You wondered why Eevee went over there. Maybe Eevee was curious. Eevee wiggled its ears happily and seemed like it wanted to be petted. It took a little bit before Gladion reached out and gave Eevee's head a rub. Eevee liked the feeling and even wanted to sit in his lap. A little flustered Gladion placed Eevee back on the seat. Hau finally came back, "Time for some malasada" he said. Eevee came running back to you and Hau. As Eevee hopped in your lap, you looked up at Gladion, who seemed to be already looking at you. You blushed a bit, as his gaze met yours. He looked down at Eevee, who returned with a cry of happiness. Maybe he gets along better with Pokemon then with people.

After eating at the malasada shop, you all made your way to Route 7. But by the time you got there, Gladion seemed to have left you and Hau. You wish he would've said something. It only made you wonder why he left. Perhaps you'd see him again. Hopefully. You and Hau started to make your way to the top of the volcano for your next trial. It did take some time, but you two eventually got there. Kiawe's Marowaks dance  invoked the feeling of the Alola region. It was cool to watch. Once the performance was over, you and Hau took turns and both passed the trial.

On the way down the mountain, Eevee suddenlyjumped out of your arms and ran into the tall grass. "Eevee come back!" you called worried. "We better go after Eevee", Hau suggested. You nodded and both ran after Eevee. What was going on? Once caught up, you noticed Eevee standing next to an injured Salandit. Eevee looked at you and Hau, hoping one of you would do something. You kneeled down, "Looks like it's been hurt. We better get it to a Pokemon center" you said. Hau nodded in agreement and carefully held the Salandit in his arms. He looked at it , "Maybe it was in some sort of fight" he said. It did look in bad condition, "It could've been an accident too. But let's get it to a center quickly" you urged Hau.

Back in Royal Avenue, you and Hau took the Salandit to the Pokemon Center. "Thank you for bringing in Salandit. This one seems to always seem to be hurting itself", Nurse Joy said. "What do you mean?" Hau asked. Nurse Joy gave Salandit to a Chansey, who wheeled it into the back room. "We're not sure how. Perhaps it's training itself too hard and overworking its body. It's quite dangerous" she explained. "Perhaps we should talk to Salandit and show it how to train without hurting itself too much" you said. Hau cheered, "Yea" he agreed. Nurse Joy smiled, "I would appreciate that and I'm sure Salandit would too" she said. It wasn't long until Chansey brought Salandit back, good as new. Nurse Joy picked it up, "Salandit please be more careful. These two nice trainers are going to help you. So you be good and listen" she told it. Salandit licked her face before Nurse Joy placed it on the ground. "Come on Salandit, we'll take you home" Hau smiled. Salandit smiled back at him and followed you and Hau out the door.

Back on route 7, you returned Salandit were you found in. The sun was going down and it was getting dark. Luckily there was a camping ground nearby, so you and Hau set up your tents. Eevee seemed rather fond of Salandit and wanted nothing more but to play with it. "Hey maybe Salandit just wants some training buddies", you said. Hau nodded, "Yea let's give Salandit some friends then. Come on out you two" he said summoning Pikachu and Dartrix. You summoned all your Pokemon too, Torracat, Yungoos and Mudsbray. All of the Pokemon happily played together until they all wore themselves out.
