What I wished was true

15-what happened?

I ignore them and walk out onto the baseball field. Carter is in the dugout so I sit next to him. "Are you pitching this practice?" I ask and he nods. I get my gear on and walk behind home base.

Carter throws 6 strikes. One of his balls missed my glove and I wasn't quick enough because my fingers were ice cold and I took my helmet off and grabbed the ball. When I glances at the stands I saw Cauy almost kissing Faith.

"Can I go get a drink?" I ask Carter and we meet halfway between the home plate and the pitchers mound. He looks over my shoulder and I see in his sunglasses reflection that Cauy and Faith are making out. Carter grabs me by the back of my neck and kisses me. We break off and go get our water bottles.

Coach makes us go to the outfield to stretch and when I'm done I go into the splits and arch my back to reach my back foot. Jonathan whistles and everyone laughs.

We go over the normal stuff for the first hour then the second hour we do throwing drills and hitting drills.

I walk into the dugout with Luis, Jonathan, Carter, and David holding me above their heads in the air. They drop me and catch me. When I get hurt they do this to show I'm different from other girls and that I am in with he guys and that I'm their girl. Today I slid into home plate hitting my face on Jonathan's catching gear and I have a huge cut and bruise on the side of my face from my temple to my jaw.

I gather my stuff and walk out with Carter. Cauy I waiting outside the fence with his arm over Faith's shoulders. David walks out right behind me.

"We're going out now it's over," Cauy says to me. Faith days the exact same thing to David.

"She doesn't need you! What with a guy that is going to treat her right. A guy like me," Carter says intertwining our hands.

I go home and walk into Kameron's room. I start crying and he pulls me into a hug, "What happened?"

"C-c-c-Cauy i-is d-d-dating F-Faith!!!" I cry into my brother's arms. He doesn't say anything and I fall asleep. I feel him carry me to my room and bring me my lasagna.

I call Elise, Sarah, and Naomi to come over. I would ask Keirah but she's at the hospital  working.

They come and we watch Netflix and we eat dinner. Kameron and Jacob come in and watch with us and the everyone leaves and I take a shower and sleep.

I wake up the next morning and walk to my closet. I pull out a confident outfit: my best pair of jeans, a black tank top to go under my red and blue-ish plaid shirt, and my black converse. I curl my long hair and put on my necklace my school sister (Natalie) gave to me and a few rings. I throw on some eyeshadow and mascara to top it off!

I grab my keys and get a granola bar to eat in my truck. I get to school and meet up with Carter who is waiting for me in the parking lot.

"So are we dating now?" he asks as I hop out of the truck. I nod and smile. He smiles back before he wraps his arms around my waist and kisses my forehead. I see Cauy and Allee wrapped up in each other before Carter notices it too and turns in the opposite direction.

The next couple weeks of school are pretty normal with the changes and before we know it, we play our first baseball game. I never thought I'd say how relieved i was that basketball season was over.

We had one game before Christmas break wish was pretty stupid. The bell rings while I'm in Language Arts/Writing class and I leave the room with Luis and Jonathan. We are all wearing our uniforms: a red black and white baseball shirt on that says––––– Cubs on it with our last name and number (mine is 4), our pants, shoes, socks, and baseball hats. I get my phone from my locker along with my jacket and bag with extra clothes.

I meet Carter on the bus and everyone is finishing their homework while Carter and I are finished so we play 5 questions.

1)~Carter: what is you're favorite color?

~Me: navy blue. What is your favorite soda?

2)~Carter: Coke. What is your favorite animal?

~Me: Kitten. Why did you come to me on your first day of school here?

3)~Carter: You seemed lonely. Why were you so hyped to meet me?

~Me: I was just being nice. How long was your longest relationship!

4)~Carter: 3 years. What do you want to do when you grow up?

~Me: be a doctor in the helicopter. Wbu?

5)~Carter: an engineer. Why is that?

*switches to Carter's POV*

I ask Embry why she wanted to do that in her future and she goes on this adorable rant:

"Well, I've always wanted to be a nurse or doctor of some kind and I don't know, my sister is a doctor, my mom is a nurse... It's just been in my family and when I was younger, like a teenager, I would watch the doctor and hospital shows and movies and I always thought that it was the coolest thing in the world and I understood what everything meant and I........" She stops. "I'm sorry I got a little carried away there," she says looking down. I tell her it's okay then she falls asleep on my shoulder.

I thought about her last comment before falling asleep since there was 45 minutes left in the bus. I knew that one time she was talking about something that she loved to a guy that respected her and he just said to her face "no one cares and no one is listening" and I just put her hand in mine and fell asleep with her after putting the ring I got her on her finger.
