As soon as I step outside of that tiny little building that has cost me so much I can feel the panic oozing out of my body with every step. I fall against the nearest tree and close my eyes for a few moments. I open them back up only to find Jeremy with eyes that look like he's seen a ghost and that she's sitting across from him. "Just give me a few more seconds," I say leaning my head back against the tree. I open them back up and say, "So I guess you're wondering what just happened in there."

"Yeah, just a little bit."

"I don't even know where I should start."

"How about who this Calvin guy is and why he made you start panicking in what I'm assuming used to be your safe-haven because your scent was everywhere," Jeremy nearly shouts and I flinch in response. "Sorry, it's just that this guy is an asshole and he needs to be put in a hospital."

"You aren't helping anything by saying that. Before I even begin you need to promise me that if
you get mad you will hear what I have to say before leaving in a rampage looking for someone who you won't find. This is really hard for me and I've only told one person what happened and you need to know that the only reason he knows is because he was coming to surprise me and stopped it. Now do you promise?"

Jeremy is the one taking a deep breath this time and finally concedes, "I promise."

"Pinky promise," I ask holding out my pinky and he takes it. "Remember that. Calvin is Colby's older brother. Colby is the one that Justin was talking to me about yesterday, he's a really really good French Horn player. Last year he got second chair in the state band as a sixth-grader and he got noticed by a really top-notch high school level symphony based in Branson, so his family moved out there that summer. Okay so now that you know that part it's time for the real story. I had also kind of started to get a crush on his older brother last school year. He's almost four years older than me, so he was 16 almost 17 when this happened while I was 13 and had just had my birthday the month before.

"We are still really close friends and I knew that I really miss them both so I asked my parents if they could come to the family Fourth Of July party two summers ago. We have a party every year at the farmhouse. Of course they said yes, so we all came up here and Calvin and I had been flirting a little during the party so when the fireworks started we decided that we were going to leave. We had to walk out here because everyone would notice us getting onto the tractor so it took us about thirty minutes to get here. Our fireworks show normally last two hours to two and a half hours so I knew that we would have at least an hour to ourselves out here.

"We went inside my barn and stood looking out the one and only window together. Then he moved behind me and wrapped his arms around me. We had been kind of talking before the party so I thought that he really liked me. I was wearing one of my halter top sundresses that day. It was the one with the tiny green flowers at the bottom of the hem and brown polka dots that got closer together as they went up the dress. He moved my hair away from one side of my neck and started kissing it barely touching his lips to my skin almost as if he was hesitating.

"It was the first time that it felt like I was getting any attention from a guy, so I let it go on. I had no idea how to stop him even if I wanted to. Next thing I knew I was on the ground and the hem of my dress was being pushed up slowly, but what he didn't expect were the shorts that I always have on underneath dresses. He got really agitated and started getting rough with me, but I couldn't think I just reacted. I started crying and I could feel the warm tears track down my cheeks," I can even feel them now just talking about it.

"While he was doing this to me he kept telling me that I wasn't worth anything and that I didn't deserve anything that I had or was. He kept going on and on telling me how fat and worthless I am. I started sobbing and crying even harder, and that's when my cousin Justin walked in. Turns out that he was coming to touch up the paint that's not really there anymore. Justin pulled him off of me and I just laid there staring at the ceiling of my barn, that wasn't really mine anymore. Justin started punching the living daylights out of him in places that would be hidden by clothing just in case he had bruises. I didn't want anyone to know, but now I know that was a mistake.

"I just wanted the pain to end, but it turns out it only made the pain last longer. I wish I could go back and shove him off of me," I say getting angry, "I can do it too, I've done it before during hangouts with his brother. Justin wasn't kidding yesterday when he said Colby was the only one that could actually take me down. I just need to be able to see him and tell him that what he did hasn't changed me or made me weaker, but made me stronger. Oh, yeah, and also kick him where the sun don't shine. I'm done with my story now."

"He did all of that to you," Jeremy nearly shouts his face turning red. I wasn't really watching him while telling him what happened because I was afraid that I would see in his eyes that he agreed with Calvin. I don't even like saying his name. "If I ever find him I will be the last freaking thing he ever sees," Jeremy shouts while stomping around like a kid throwing a tantrum.

Jeremy stops turns around and looks at me, I can see tears welling up in his eyes. "Are you okay? Why am I even asking, of course you're not okay. Can I touch you," he asks in a gentler tone. I only have the willpower to nod my head in response. He squats down in front of me and starts wiping off my cheeks, I guess the only reason why I felt the tears was because they were there.

His big hands grip either side of my face and bring my chin up until I look him straight in the eyes. "You are wonderful, I don't know what I'll do if I ever lose you. You can't blame yourself for what happened, and I fully understand why you didn't want to meet my parents or the pack yet. This is why you were crying while listening to Priceless by For King&Country isn't it? Because of all those things he said to you? I will convince you that he was lying if it's the last thing I do," he says before moving his hands, one behind my back the other cradling my head pressing it into his chest.

I can't help it anymore I just let it all out, I start snot-sobbing grabbing a hold of his shirt until my knuckles bleach white. He lets me just sit there and soak his shirt in the freezing cold as he rocks me back and forth.

After I'm done crying all the tears I have in me he says one more thing, "Whatever happens between us is up to you. I will not ever kiss you or try to do anything more without your permission, I swear."

It's silent as we just sit there on the ground watching and waiting for someone to call or come looking for us, but they never do. "How fast do you want to get back to the farmhouse," Jeremy asks.

"Well, we have school in the morning and we kind of need to be heading back. It's almost seven and we haven't ate our supper yet. So really soon."

"How soon, like in the next 10-20 minutes?"

"Yeah, that would actually be perfect."

After hearing my response Jeremy stands up offering his hand, which I take, and asks me, "How about five," but before I can ask any questions I hear the sound of bones popping and in front of me stands a wolf. He motions his head as a climb on, and I do. As soon as he knows I'm secure he takes off running and I can feel the wind ripping through my hair. This is the most peaceful I've ever been in pretty much my whole life. I start to bury my face in his fur and before I know it we stopped in front of the farmhouse and it's time to go home.
