Chapter 53 - Dan's POV

I'm waiting for Phil outside the lunchroom when Jamie finds me.

"I've been sent on a sacred mission," she says. "I'm to alert all the members of the drama club that we're having a meeting this afternoon right after school."

"Already?" I ask. "But it's only the first day back!" Usually we don't meet until at least the second week.

"Van said there'd probably be some extra logistic problems so he wanted to get a headstart. He wouldn't tell me what they are though....Anyway, when you see him, give your pretty boyfriend the news, because I definitely want him on my team again. "

"Will do." I smile at her description of Phil because...well, it's accurate to say the least.

"Oh and can you get the info to Danny as well? I know he's in your English class. And I'm sure he'll let Ethan know." She checks her watch. "Oops, gotta run!"

She dashes off, dragging Audrey by the hand and humming "The Hills Are Alive".

By the time I reach the auditorium after school, my nerves are buzzing. Phil squeezes my hand. "What are you so nervous for?"

"I don't even know!" I exclaim. "Vanderbilt never calls meetings this early. I feel like – and I know this is gonna sound weird – drastic changes are about to begin."

Phil raises an eyebrow. "In the theatre, I mean," I quickly add.

We take our seats (middle section, three rows back, six seats from the right, of course), and to my surprise, Jamie's already here.

I turn around to talk to her. "You're here early; what gives?"

"Things are a-changin'," she answers. "I'm not sure what, but things are definitely a-changin'."

"That's what Dan said, and he couldn't give a straight answer either," Phil says.

"Well of course he couldn't, honey, luckily for you!" Jamie winks theatrically, cracking us both up.

The auditorium door swings open again and a burst of chatter from the hallway enters along with Mr. Vanderbilt, Danny, and Ethan. The three of them are talking animatedly about Danny and Ethan's upcoming trip to Asia with their dance team.

Danny takes a seat next to Jamie and Ethan sits next to him. Mr. Vanderbilt makes his way to the stage as more kids start to come in and join the meeting.

When everyone's arrived, he starts talking. "You may be wondering why I've called you here so early in the year." Everyone immediately quiets down.

"I've already chosen our spring show.  Due to some...logistics, if you will, needed for the show, such as a flight crew, I figured it best to get a headstart."

There's a quiet buzz as everyone tries to figure out which musicals need a flight crew.

"We will be putting on a production of Mary Poppins."

"YES!!!" Jamie and Danny shriek simultaneously. Danny grins at her, but she lowers her eyes and looks away.

"Auditions are next Tuesday, and I hope to have the final cast list out by next Friday," Mr. Vanderbilt continues. "I won't keep you much longer, but I have the audition packets if you're interested. "

We go down to the stage to collect them and I'm surprised to see Jamie quickly grab one. 

"Hey, I'll catch you guys later, " she tells us. "I need to discuss some business with Mr. Vanderbilt."

sorry it's been 2 months since I last updated
I'm not sure when the next update will be
I haven't written in months

life has been wonderful but also crazy hectic
I'm visiting family and my boyfriend met me in LA and we went to Disneyland for my first time in 10 years and it was friggin amazing

I'm hoping I can start writing and updating more but I'm not sure how regular it'll be

I've got three jobs this summer so free time is few and far between
