Listen, I have been trying to set those two up all year. But I have not been at the top of my game lately. I mean, we've been in school what, 2 or 3 months now? I had to physically take Phil aside and tell him that Dan was into him before either of them made a move. It was like they were stuck in an endless limbo of "I like you but I will not do anything so let's just get coffee every afternoon and make everyone else feel like a third wheel because we stare at each other with puppy dog eyes literally all of the time". It was kind of painful TBH.

Especially for me. I mean, one of my great passions in life is matchmaking and I'm pretty damn good at it. I set up Bryant and Audrey like two years ago, and they just got back together, and then there was Taj and Ethan and then I got Taj and Kylie to go out, and they were together for like 6 months before she...Well, I don't wanna go into that. Kind of a sore
subject. Later, maybe.

Anyway, when you find people like Dan and Phil, usually it just takes a nudge for them to get together. I had to enlist Chris and Pj to help set them up!

So, I decided that we had to get them to do something, anything on Halloween. So I pulled out all the stops: making them get here early and work together, I made Phil look extra good, Chris and Pj and Danny and I ditched them so they'd have to walk around together, the four of us filling up the couch so they'd have to be close for the scary movie (during which they could comfort each other. That was kind of a bonus.)

But as I'm doing Phil's makeup, I can feel Dan glaring at us and I realise why Dan's been so weird lately. He thinks Phil and I are dating! And I'm, like, mentally kicking myself, because how did I not realise? I've just been so busy lately, with school, and midterms, and costumes and overseeing most of tech, and-stuff. Just stuff.

Anyway. So I spend the night trying to spend as little time with Phil as possible, while making sure he and Dan are together as much as possible.

And finally, finally, we're watching the movie and I see Phil reach up and take Dan's hand. I can see Dan, like, visibly freeze up and just turn to Phil with this look of total surprise on his face. I wanna start laughing so badly, cos he's just so awkward, but I keep quiet. They're like deer, any sudden noises and they will flee from their current state.

I feel a weird sense of accomplishment. I have bothered Dan countless times with variations of "He's cute, you should ask him out" and practically hit Phil over the head with the Brick of Love (it's like Cupid's arrow, only much less subtle.). And it finally seems to be paying off.
