Alex's POV:
*Tuesday, January 6, 2014, 2:44 p.m.*
No one had seen Emily all day and I was starting to get worried. She never missed school, even if she was sick.
I whispered to Lina who sat next to me in our last period, "Lina, do you know where Emily is?"
She shook her head.
"Do you want to go to her house after school and check on her?"
"For sure. Dana and I were just going to go home, but he and Gabe can hang out instead."
*Tuesday, January 6, 2014, 3:50 p.m.*
Lina rang Emily's doorbell as I held her ice cream. Whatever was bothering her, I knew that Cold Stone would help.
We heard someone unlocking the door from the other side and were greeted with a not-so-pleasant looking Emily. She looked like a mess.
"I swear to God," she glared at us. "Don't say anything."
She turned around and walked back into her house, leaving the door open for us to come in. We followed her inside, locking her door behind us. She let herself fall onto her couch and I looked over to the TV only to find that she was watching The Notebook.
Shit. It's a good thing we brought her ice cream.
"That bad, huh?" Lina sat next to her on the couch and rubbed her back.
I handed Emily her ice cream and a plastic spoon before asking what happened. She sighed and told me everything about her and Dalton.
"Wow," was all that I could say.
"Yeah, yeah," Emily stuffed another spoonful of ice cream in her mouth. "Start judging."
"No, it's not that. I would never judge you about something like that, especially not in a situation like this." I assured her.
"Really?" she sat up in the couch.
I nodded and sat down next to her so that she was in the middle of me and Lina.
"Thank you guys for coming over," she sighed, continuing to eat her ice cream.
"I have an idea!" Lina suddenly shouted making both Emily and I jump.
"Jesus Christ, Lina!" Emily covered her heart.
"Shh!" she shushed her. "I'm going to set you up with one of my friends!"
"Which one?" Emily cocked her head.
Lina thought for a second before a huge smile spread across her face, "Max!"
Emily almost chocked on her ice cream, "What the fuck? He is so hot!"
"I know!" Lina squealed.
"How are you going to get him to like me?" Emily shouted.
"It's not like it's going to be hard!" I told her. "You're gorgeous!"
"And you're funny!" she fake smiled and then looked down.
Lina and I frowned.
"Hey," I said and she looked back up at me. "You have to know that you are beautiful. It doesn't matter what anyone thinks of you, especially not Dalton. Other people's feelings for you don't affect how amazing you are, Emily."
"You're beautiful. You're smart, funny, generous, and honestly one of the nicest people that I know," Lina smiled at her.
"Do you guys really think that?" Emily asked us, perking up a bit.
