Real Friends (An IM5 FanFiction)

Chapter 25.

Dana's POV:

*Saturday, January 31, 2014, 1:58 p.m.*

I swallowed, unsure of what to expect of the questions from Lina's cousins and brothers. I was almost as nervous now as I was when I was meeting Lina's grandparents.

"So, Dana, was it?" Jessica asked.

I nodded, "Yeah."

"So you like my little cousin?" she asked again.

"Yeah, I really do."

"Do you love her?" Nessa asked.

"With all my heart," I nodded.

"So how did you guys meet?" Christabel joined in. They were all sitting around me like little kids do when they're waiting to be told a story. I don't know why I was so nervous, it's not like I gave them a reason to not like me so I should have no problem right now.

"I've been best friends with her since we were in sixth grade. And I started having feelings for her when we started seventh grade, but I was too scared to say anything to her about it. And when I finally did make up my mind to tell her how I felt, she had a boyfriend."

"I never liked Nick," Hannah said and everyone agreed.

"He was a jerk to me," Faith told us.

"He would always make fun of us," Nessa added on.

"Why didn't you say anything?" Gabby asked the three of them.

"Because," Nessa explained. "Lina was always so happy when she was with him."

"Was she really?" I asked her, starting to feel mixed emotions of anger, sadness, and jealousy.

Nessa shrugged, "Sometimes. I mean, there were a lot of nights when she would call me and she was crying. She would tell me about all of their fights, and believe me, there were a lot. The last one that I remembered was when she called me to tell me that he cheated on her."

"He cheated on her?" a majority of them basically shouted.

"Yeah," Nessa nodded. "And he hurt her, too."

I knew that Lina was listening in through the door so if she was uncomfortable with Nessa saying this, she would've stopped her. But I knew for a fact that Lina, her parents, and I were the only ones who knew about Nick trying to rape her when she was alone.

"What?" they shouted.

Vince looked at me, "Where does this guy live?"

"I already took care of it, believe me," I told him.

"When?" Daniel asked me.

"When Lina found out that Nick was cheating on her, she called me to come and pick her up. When I got there, Nick grabbed her wrist really tight and hurt her but then I made him let go of her. And then she started yelling at him so he hit her so, long story short, I beat the crap out of him."

"Good," Daniel sat back down on his seat that he jumped up from when Nessa said that Nick hurt Lina.

"I'm glad you can protect her," Francis nodded.

"So that's the last thing Lina told you about Nick?" Jessica turned her attention back to Nessa.

"Yeah," Nessa answered.

"Does Lina ever call you about Dana?" Jessica asked.

"Yeah," she nodded and I got nervous. Why would Lina need to call Nessa about me? We haven't gotten into a fight yet? "But only because she's telling me how amazing he is. She's always telling me the sweet things that Dana does for her. Last night she called me to tell me that she was bringing him today and then she told me that she really loves him, like a lot. She said that she's never felt this way about any guy before."
