Nikki POV:

*Thursday, June 19, 2014, 4:20 p.m.*

"So how's Dalton?" I asked Emily while the five of us sat around a table in the mall, talking about the guys.

"Oh, you know," Emily shrugged. "I'm sure he's fine."

"You're sure?" Lina looked at her with one eyebrow raised. "What do you mean?"

"Well, I haven't exactly been talking to him all that much lately, but I'm sure he's fine," Emily answered. "He's probably just really busy."

Lina, Darcie, Alex, and I all exchanged glances.

"When was the last time you've talked to him?" Alex asked.

"Like," she looked up, counting the number of days. "Eleven days ago?"

"Emily, they left twelve days ago," Lina said.

"I know," Emily shrugged it off, like it was the most casual thing in the world. "He's probably just really busy with everything going on over there."

"He has the same schedule as all the other guys and they're all able to talk to us every day," Lina told her.

"Then I guess they just don't do as much as Dalton," Emily replied.

"How are you taking this so lightly?" I asked her.

"Taking what so lightly? He's busy. What's to take?" she asked me.

We all exchanged looks again. She was in denial about the severity of the situation.

"Emily," Darcie said her name, looking at her concerned, we all were.

"Yeah?" she asked, oblivious to our changes in tone.

"Are you okay?" she asked.

"Of course, why wouldn't I be?" she looked at all of us.

"Emily, you haven't talked to Dalton in over a week," I reminded her. "And you two had just gotten over a fight before he left."

"I know, it looks bad on his part, but I trust him," Emily said, now trying to convince herself as well. We could tell that it was starting to sink in.

Suddenly she started to cry and tears spilled from her eyes.

"Have you tried calling him?" Alex rubbed her back.

Emily nodded.

"How many times?" I handed her a napkin.

"Seven," she sniffled.

"Did you try blocking your number?" Lina asked.

Emily nodded again.

"What happened when you did?" Darcie asked her.

"He answered," Emily scoffed.

"What did you say?" I asked.

"Nothing! I just hung up right away!" she told us.

This wasn't right. Why wasn't he talking to her?

"I'm calling Dana," Lina told us while she took her phone out of her pocket and put the call on speaker.

"Hey, baby!" Dana greeted Lina.

Once he answered, she asked him, "What has Dalton been doing?"

"Uhm, nothing much really," Dana answered, a bit confused by Lina asking. "The same as us: rehearsals and performing. But he's on the phone with Emily like every free second he has. He locks himself in his room and talks to her all the time," he answered.
