Squirming around I kept feeling a presence behind me. Snuggling into the warmth I feel arms ghost around me. Sighing in content I cuddle closer to the intrusion.
"Morning." A husky voice said in my ear. Jumping lightly I throw the arms off me.
"Who are you!" I screamed getting off the bed but screeched when I realized I was stark naked.
Grabbing onto the sheets I cover myself.
"Adeline, calm down." The voice said. Looking at him I gasp as Kayden's tired face comes into view.
He gets up, giving me an amazing view of his torso and started to walk towards me. Walking backwards I trip on the sheet and fall on my butt.
"Adeline." He said coming over to me and bending to my height.
"What am I doing here!" I screech pointing at him. "And why am I naked!" I scream attempting to get up but fall again as the silk sheet catches on my feet.
"Let me help you." He said grabbing the sheet underneath me and pulling it off the ground. Wrapping his arms around my body he hoists me up. Staring at him suspiciously I rake my head for any memory of how I ended up here.
"We didn't... you know." I say turning bright red as he doesn't let go of me.
"No." He said putting his hand in his hair and tousling it. Staring at his bicep I am suddenly struck with the realization of what happened last night.
I transported here, but I was still here. Why?
"I... don't know what to say." I said sitting back into the bed making sure the sheets were securely around me.
"I don't regret anything that happened last night Adeline. I know this is weird for you, but we're mates. We should be fully mated by now, and you should be staying by my side. I'm sure Angela and Janet told you all about this. But please Adeline hear me out." He said kneeling in front of me.
"How do you know about Janet?" I asked looking at him. Not effected by my question he sighs deeply. I was tempted to run my hands through his hair and pull him closer but I stopped myself.
"Adeline, I have my ways of knowing things. And I need you to stay quiet so I can tell you something." He said staring at me.
"Fine." I said crossing my arms.
"Look Adeline, it is very dangerous for you to be leaving. I understand why you would leave, I haven't been the nicest and I understand that. Look, this isn't easy for me but I need you to give me a chance. You're my Luna, the queen of all Lunas. If you leave, I can't protect you. I need you to think for a minute and listen to me. I know you're scared, and I know I haven't been the best mate for you, but I promise I will do everything in my power to gain your trust. Just please, stay by my side." He pleaded searching my eyes for an answer. I could sense his vulnerability and at this moment, I could feel every emotion ripple out of him.
"I don't know." I say after a while. I could feel my walls cracking, every barrier that I planned to use against him was slowly chipping away. I was falling deeply for him, and I didn't know if I liked it or not.
"I will give you time. You can stay here if you want, there's a garden in the back. I'm sure you'd like to grow something. But, I want my answer by the end of this week." He said getting up. I followed his figure with my eyes as he walked around the room and put his shirt back on, much to my disappointment.
"And what if I don't want to stay?" I ask getting up.
His back was turned to me but I could see his muscles tense.
"Then you're free to leave, but you can never come back here." He said before walking out of the bedroom. My heart shattered into a million pieces. Did I even want to leave him?
Yes, yes I did. I've wanted to leave him this whole month that I've been here. But now I wasn't so sure. Being back in his presence made me wobbly and more willing to give him a chance, than if I was somewhere else.
He was giving me a choice, but I didn't know if I wanted what my mind is telling me that I want. Cause my heart was screaming out to him.
"What am I going to do?" I asked out loud sitting back onto the bed.
Looking around I smiled slightly. This was so similar to my old home, cozy but roomy.
I made a mental note to explore later after I contemplated my options.
The slam of the door downstairs made me jump. Getting up quickly I peeked outside of the window as Kayden's retreating figure goes into the forest and out of sight.
Putting a hand to my racing heart I sat back down.
This is going to be a long week...
