"Are you hungry?" Kayden asked running his hand down my stomach. Shaking my head I snuggled closer to him as he wrapped his arms tighter around my naked form.
"Kayden, can we talk?" I asked over my shoulder. He groaned and kissed my shoulder before getting up.
"What is it?" He asked leaning onto the headboard, the sheets covering his modesty as I leaned my head against his huge shoulder making sure my chest was covered.
"What did you do to my magic?" I asked trailing a line down his chest. He sighed and put his head back.
"Nothing really, I just blocked it." He said putting a hand over his face. Frowning I got off his shoulder.
"Why?" I asked. I already knew the answer but I wanted to hear it from him.
"Because you kept running from me." He said staring at me. Nodding I clutched the sheets closer to me.
"Could you stop blocking it? I promise I won't run." I said crossing my legs and picking at my nails.
"I don't know if I can do that Adeline. I can't trust that you won't run." He said clutching my hands in his.
"I won't run, I promise." I say quietly. I still felt awkward around Kayden, especially asking him anything. After the yelling downstairs I didn't think that I ever wanted to make him angry again.
Even though we've done some very adult things, I still didn't trust him. I knew he wouldn't hurt me, but I still wasn't sure about him. His temperament, and the fact that he could block my magic made me very paranoid.
I already knew my answer, I wasn't going to leave. My heart wouldn't allow me too. I would give him a chance, but if he does anything else to ruin that chance, I'm leaving.
"Kayden, if you want to make this work you have to trust me. I haven't even found out what I could do with it. I'm willing to give you a chance, if you'd give me one too." I say looking at him.
Kayden stared at me in shock and I could see a ghost of a smile appear on his face.
"You're going to stay?" He asked scooting closer to me. I nodded and blushed.
"Hey, I wanted to ask. Where's Angela? I haven't seen her around." I say looking at him expectantly. The alarm on his face is covered by a stoic expression.
"She's gone." He said simply.
"Gone? What do you mean gone?" I asked tightening the hold on the sheets.
"I killed her." He said waiting for my reaction. Blood rushed to my head as I clenched my fists.
"You killed her?" I asked looking at him sharply. Getting off the bed I drag the sheets with me as I walk around the room.
"Adeline..." He said but I cut him off with my hand. Biting my nails I breathed unevenly. How am I going to tell Janet this?
"I... I have no words for you. How could you do that!" I scream pointing at him. Tears pooled my vision as I looked at him.
How could I be in bed with this man as someone who helped me was dead?
"She deserved it." He said sitting on the edge of the bed.
"Deserved it?! Are you serious right now! What made you think she deserved to die! I can't believe you right now! You have no empathy, absolutely no care in the world for anyone but yourself! What is wrong with you!" I cried out. Wiping the angry tears I felt Kayden walk up behind me and hug me.
"No, don't touch me!" I scream throwing his arms off me.
Walking to the far corner of the room, I peer out of the window.
