The whole day went pretty smoothly for Elena, until the evening, when Klaus rang her bell and announced that they were going to dinner.
'But I'm not prepared,' Elena resisted. 'I'm not even wearing any make up... And I'm wearing plain clothes.'
'You're stunning anyway. Don't worry, you look good. Moreover, I'm not planning to take you to a fancy restaurant. This will be a completely different kind of dinner,' he winked at her. Elena was starting to get scared, but at the same time she was looking forward to it. She put on a sweatshirt and followed Klaus to his car.
'When my friends find out about this...' She sighed more for herself than because she wanted to say that to Klaus. Nevertheless, he heard her, naturally.
'It's going to be alright, you'll see,' he calmed her down. 'I've thought everything through perfectly.'
He waited until Elena fastened her seatbelt, then he started the car and came away from the curb. They drove for around twenty minutes in silence, Elena staring out of the window, behind which she could see the road running by, Klaus his eyes locked on the windshield, focused on driving. Finally, the car began to slow down and Elena asked: 'Have we arrived?'
'Yes, love,' responded Klaus with a smile. He parked at some building; when Elena managed to see a bit better in the dark, she recognised her high school.
'We're going to have dinner AT SCHOOL?' She was confused.
'Just be patient...' Klaus held the car door open for her gallantly, as he later did the school's main door.
'Where are we going?'
'To the gym,' answered Klaus and headed in that direction. Elena let him lead her. Klaus flung the door open and there was a tied up boy - one of Elena's classmates - sitting on a chair, with his throat bitten.
'Welcome to the dinner, Elena,' said Klaus and standing behind her, he put his hands on her shoulders, while she was watching the scene in fron of her with fear, shock and disgust.
