Elena didn't kill Matt - she knew that doing so would make her lose the only fun available for that time. And so she always fed on him a little, then she let him drink her blood to heal him, and then she swooped on him again. But she got bored of it soon. Fortunately, Klaus came back and brought her the ring.
'Where did you get it?'
'I have contacts everywhere,' smiled Klaus and he put the ring on her finger. After that he held her hand in his, looked her in the eyes and said: 'Finally, you're officially one of us.'
Elena stared at the ring with interest; it was very beautiful, even though not nearly as much as Klaus' engaging eyes, whose closeness made her feel butterflies in her stomach. It was a very nice feeling.
'I must go to school,' she announced when they had stood there for almost a whole minute. 'And so should you, Matt,' she turned to Matt, lifelessly lying on the bed. 'Or you know what, have a rest, I'll say that you're sick.' She laughed happily, winked at Klaus and walked towards the door. With uncertainty she stuck out her leg at first, to make sure the ring is working, and when she found out there was no danger, she quickly headed home, taking advantage of her newly acquired vampire speed.
