Part 51

After the walk, they went to Elena's to warm up. Her roommate was just at work, so Jeremy sprawled on the couch like he did it at home, he put his legs on the table and looked around the living room. 'Well, it looks nice here,' he commented and he grinned at his older sister, who was meanwhile preparing some refreshment in the kitchen, as they'd both got hungry.
'Thanks. I'm satisfied here,' she smiled at him and she opened the fridge to take out some ingredients for the snack.
'So you don't want to come back?' Jeremy tried.
'Not yet.' She didn't even hesitate.
'Is it because of Klaus?' Jeremy went straight to the heart of the matter.
Elena slammed the fridge door loudly. 'What do you think?' she snapped at him, at once all irritated.
'OK, OK,' he lifted his hands in a peaceful gesture. 'No more questions about that jackass. Anyways, he doesn't ask about you either.'
Elena's senses sharpened. So Klaus doesn't talk about her anymore? Has he forgotten about her? Her heart suddenly tightened; the thought hurt her. But what else could I expect when I disappeared like this? And isn't this exactly what I wanted?
She had to compose herself a lot so that she wouldn't bombard Jeremy with questions. Instead, she casually continued with preparations of the snack and she was silent.

In the meantime, Jeremy sprawled on the couch even more, when out of the sudden, he shrieked out loudly.
'What's going on?' worried Elena.
Jeremy lifted the sofa cover and from a hole in the sofa he took out a sharp wooden stake. He stood up and went to show it to Elena, who was by his side in a second.
'Is this yours?' he asked her.
'No,' Elena shook her head, staring at the stake in shock.
'Your roommate might know more about you than you think,' threw in Jeremy.
Elena sighed. This was the last thing she needed. The only friend that didn't live miles and miles away stabbing her heart with a stake.
Life was just fabulous.
