"Aeron, why aren't you eating?" My dad asked me. I hadn't even touched my food.
"I'm just not hungry." I was starving, but I wasn't going to give up.
"He hasn't eaten in 2 days." Aileen said to my dad. Shit.
"Is that true? Are you alright? Are you sick?"
"Jesus, dad I'm fine." I got up and ran back up to my room, I cried again. This time they were slow tears. I flipped my lamp on, since I had been sitting in the dark.
I looked up at the window, there was a girl sitting in the window across from me. She was holding a dry erase board that said 'Are You Okay?' I sat up. I know I have a board around here somewhere. I checked under my bed, bingo. I pulled my desk chair up to the window and wrote 'Yeah, just family problems.' She wrote 'I understand' then erased, to follow with the question 'Are you Broken?' I hesitated, even though I knew the answer.
'Yes' a tear ran down my cheek.
'I am too.' She was beautiful, she had long, curly, chestnut hair, freckles and hazel eyes.
'I'm Brooklyn, but you can call me Brooke.'
'I'm Aeron, and you can call me Aeron.' A smile went across her face as she laughed.
'FaceTime?' She asked
'Sure' I wrote out my number, then she put it in her phone. She didn't call me on FaceTime, just regular calling. When I answered she said
"I decided just to call you, because I like seeing you face to face. I let out a small laugh.
We talked for almost 2 hours before she finally asked me if I wanted to hangout the next day, of course I said yes. I kinda liked her, but I still wanted to get to know her first. We talked about everything, she told me that she has anxiety and cuts sometimes, I told her how I'm depressed, cut, and don't eat.
"That explains why you're so skinny"
"But I'm not."
"Aeron, oh my gosh yes you are! How do you not see that? Like honestly, eat something!"
"I can't, I'm sorry. I'm just insecure." I started to cry a little
"Don't cry!" She told me.
"I'm sorry." I said in almost a whisper.
"Hey Aeron, do you think you can meet me outside?" She asked me
"Um, sure."
"Ok, see you in a minute."
She hung up then closed her window.
