CHAPTER THIRTY-FOUR

"I knew you wouldn't die, Harry!"─── Y/N POV ───
Bright banners flapped in the morning breeze, flashing the school emblems of each champion. I could feel the anticipation pressing down on my chest as I sat next to Draco Malfoy, scanning the massive arena that stood before us. This was it. The moment we'd all been waiting for. The first task of the Triwizard Tournament.
"You're lucky I saved you a seat," Draco said, leaning closer so I could hear him over the noise.
"Saved me a seat or dragged me here?" I replied, shooting him a glare.
"Easy, y/n." He leaned back in his seat, stretching out lazily. "Besides, you should be thanking me. You're with the better company."
I glanced over at Hermione and Ron, who were sitting several rows away, craning their necks to find Harry. A pang of guilt filled in my chest.
"I should be with them," I muttered.
Draco rolled his eyes. "Oh, please. Potter will be fine. He's faced worse, hasn't he?"
"This is different," I replied sharply. "He's never faced dragons before. He could get seriously hurt."
Draco let out a dry laugh. "Here's to hoping."
I clenched my fists, swallowing the retort bubbling up in my throat. It was no use arguing with him. My attention was pulled away as Dumbledore's voice boomed through the arena.
"Your attention, please! This is a great day for all of us. Each of the three tasks involves very considerable danger. Please keep your seats at all times. This will minimize any risks you may be exposed to..."
Draco nudged me. "Viktor's up first. He's going to win, easy."
I barely heard him, my thoughts consumed by Harry. He wasn't ready for this, not really. No one was. I couldn't shake the image of him standing in front of a dragon, completely clueless.
"Y/n, you're shaking," Draco commented, his tone laced with annoyance. "You're ruining the mood."
"Sorry if I care about my friend's life," I shot back.
Draco raised an eyebrow, studying me for a moment. "You're seriously worried about Potter? He's not worth the stress."
I glared at him. "Not everyone is as heartless as you, Malfoy."
Before he could reply, the crowd erupted in cheers as Viktor Krum stepped into the arena. Draco cheered loudly, a bright grin spreading across his face. "See that? That's a real champion."
I barely heard him, my eyes fixed on Viktor as he faced the dragon. He was calm, composed, every move calculated. Within minutes, he had the golden egg in hand. The crowd cheered in approval, but I couldn't bring myself to join in. All I could think about was Harry.
