"I choose this. I choose you."─── Y/N POV ───
The battle had begun like a violent storm. Giants stood at the castle's entrance, their fists breaking through stone and rattling the ancient walls. Death Eaters flew through the sky like a dark plague, their wands cutting through the air, leaving trails of deadly light. The ground trembled beneath us, and the sky filled with cries and screams.
"Confringo!" I bellowed, slashing my wand toward a group of Death Eaters charging at me from behind.
A fiery explosion blasted them backward, sending their bodies flying into the night.
But there was no time for relief. As I raced through the battle, my foot caught on something, and I tumbled forward, sliding painfully across the stone floor.
"Damn it," I hissed, pushing myself up.
My gaze fell on what had tripped me. It was a young wizard, unconscious and sprawled on the ground.
"No," I muttered, kneeling down. "Hey, come on. You're okay."
The boy didn't move. My heart clenched as I saw the blood seeping from a wound on his side. My hands shook as I tried to figure out what to do.
"Y/n!" a voice called, breaking through my panic. I turned to see Tonks sprinting toward me, her bright pink hair shining through the smoke.
"Tonks!" Relief flooded me. "He's hurt...I don't know what—"
"Move back," she said, dropping to her knees beside the boy. Her wand flicked, and a silvery mist began to wrap around his wound. "You did good finding him. Now get out of here. They need every able wand in the quad."
"But—"
"Go!" Her tone left no room for argument. "I've got him."
I hesitated, torn between staying and obeying, but the sounds of the battle forced me to move. I raced toward the quad.
Suddenly, a chill washed over me. My breath caught in my throat, and goosebumps prickled across my skin. I turned slowly, dread filling in my stomach. A group of Dementors glided toward the entrance, their dark, cloaked figures cutting through the battle, heading straight for me.
"Expecto Patronum!" I shouted, but nothing came out.
The Dementors were closing in, their breath chilling my bones. My mind raced. I had to think of something, anything happy. But it was hard to summon joy when everything felt so hopeless.
