Trigger warning: Panic attack

It was lunchtime on a Friday. Most people were inside in the cafeteria, I don't know why. The weather was nice. Kinda cold, bit of wind, but still sunny. I walked down to the bench under the tree, where me and the emos sat the other day.

There was no one there, but I sat down and ate my lunch. Since I didn't have any of the same classes as Mikey and Frank today, I probably wouldn't meet them. That's why I waited under the tree. Maybe they would pass and say hello. I had given up on trying to get other friends. Just me and the emos. If they were my friends, not sure.

I closed my eyes, just listened to the wind. But it wasn't the wind, who said: "Hello!" I looked up, the emos came closer, side by side like marching soldiers. I smiled, my face lit up in hope. They actually came by and said hello. They all sat down on the bench, all smiling a bit. "So, you guys are, like, a band?", I asked with great caution.

"Yeah", they all mumbled and looked at me. There was an awkward silence, only the wind dared to make noise. "We are actually going to practise tonight." Gerard looked at me with a small smile. "Practise? You mean: playing music for an hour and then watch movies?", Frank interrupted and giggled. "Shut up", Gerard sighed.

"But it's true", Mikey said with his low voice. Gerard just glared at his brother. "The band and music isn't that serious then?", I asked. Gerard was trying to say something, but Ray already had an answer prepared: "Not that serious, but we write our own music. We haven't had lots of time recently, though..." Gerard suddenly asked: "But do you want to come over tonight?"

Bam. No words could describe how I felt. Well, I even forgot every word for a split second anyway. The guys all watched me in a hopeful way, but I just sat with a open mouth, trying to speak, but I couldn't. I probably looked like a fish. Blop, blop. I looked around me, checking the nature, trying to remember everything. "Erhm, sure."

One hour left. It was 5pm now. Sometimes I wish time would go faster. I sat on my bed, studying the small details on my hands. I wasn't ready to go. Not at all. I was wasting my time, seriously. I broke my empty thoughts and got up. I looked in the mirror. Ugh. What an ugly girl in there I thought and looked away. I reached out for some random clothes, and bingo: black jeans, black top and a loose dark blue shirt. I smiled. Typical me, dark everything.

No one was home at my house, so I just walked outside and strolled down the street. I heard loud voices inside the emo brothers house. I stood outside, alone in the mild weather. It felt good, in a weird way. I noticed the brothers last names on their postbox. Way. Donna Lee and Donald Way must be their parents. Gerard Arthur Way and Michael James Way. Michael? Must be Mikey. I sighed, discovering I probably had been out there for like two minutes.

I walked up to the front door, ready to knock on the door, when I felt the butterflies in my stomach. Maybe I should go home again. I lowered my hand. Looked down. Why would I bother be here. Luckily, a hint of confidence hit me. I stood up tall and knocked on the door. No way back now.

I didn't wait more than a second, before Gerard opened the door. He was smiling like if it was Christmas morning. I walked inside, looked around. Peacefully I observed all the details in the house. Like the carpet's pattern, the wooden floor's small lines and the smell of the house. I took my shoes off, and walked into the kitchen, where all the boys sat. I smiled awkwardly, hoping they would say something soon.

"Hello dear girl!", a female, happy voice said. I was shocked since the sound came from behind. I turned around, seeing a nice looking woman with big, blonde hair. I was about to say something, but she continued: "I'm happy to see you! You must be their friend right? Have you heard them play music before? What's your name? By the way, I'm Donna, Mikey and Gerard's mother." Too much. I tried to get all the stuff she just said in order in my head. I just smiled and said: "I'm Tess."
