Chapter Fifteen

NO BACKING OUT

Kerry had, with the help of the nurse and Remus, managed to get onto a bed in the hospital wing. She had slowly and weakly explained where the pain was and that was it. She already had to ditch the idea of telling Pansy at dinner what she thought, so what would it be like if she snitched on the situation.

After the nurse had made Kerry drink a few vials of disgusting remedies, she finally could breath normally as her ribs had gone back into place and almost healed. It would take the rest of the night to fully heal Kerry.

"Here you go dear. This will help with any bruisings and pain." Madam Pomfrey handed her the vial and she took it and drunk it quickly.

"Right." Kerry jumped slightly. She had forgot that Remus was there. He took a chair and sat down. "What happened Kerry?"

Kerry looked away and stared at the opposite wall. "I'm not a snitch Professor." Kerry stated. She really didn't want to tell him.

"Now Kerry. This was a brutal attack. You have to tell me." Kerry forgot for a second and moved fast to look at Lupin. She winced in pain. "Please Kerry."

"I'll tell you what happened." She took a breath in. "But I'm not telling you who."

"That is fine for now. I have never seen you look so helpless Kerry."

"Thanks Professor." She winced once gain as she breathed in. "Real confidence...booster." She tried to manage a smile but it looked more like a grimace.

"I'm only observing Kerry. Now please tell me what happened." Remus asked politely.

"It's jealousy professor...she-"

"-so it's a girl then. That helps." Remus smirked.

"Yeh. Anyway, she cornered me...there were others...they punched me in the stomach...each time I would not accept."

"Accept what Kerry?"

"Her so called...proposition."

"Oh okay. Carry on."

"I refused each time...I'd say I was punched in the stomach...about 10 times...then she slapped me right across the...face."

"I understand Kerry. Please carry on." Remus asked once again.

"A couple more disagreements later...the girls let go of me...I was about to fall to the floor...but the girl...used Flipendo on me...so I lay on the floor and didn't want to move...they left me." Kerry grimaced and quickly added,

"They wanted my...answer by dinner time today...what time is it?"

"Ten minutes until dinner. But that is not your concern. You need rest and I need to tell Severus and maybe the headmaster." Remus got up and was walking away. Kerry quickly tried to get off the bed but fell onto the floor. She let out a small moan of pain but it caught Remus' attention.

He turned around and looked at Kerry's bed for a moment.

"Kerry?" Silly question.

"I'm...on...the floor...professor." Kerry spoke. She heaved herself up and steadied herself on the bed while Remus came over. "Professor you should go. I only fell."

"Let me help you." Remus held out his hand and helped Kerry back onto the bed.

"Thanks." Kerry muttered. She relaxed back into the the bed and watched Remus leave the wing.

The doors opened with a bang and Kerry woke up startled. She didn't know when she had fallen asleep but this was literally 'a rude awakening'.

"Kerry!" Ah, it's Severus. "What happened? Who did it?"
