Chapter Sixteen

CATCHING THE RAT

Kerry awoke the next morning feeling better. She lay there for a little while with her eyes closed. Today was the day. Catching the rat day. She finally decided to open her eyes and she then felt the hand that was in hers.

"Good morning Kerry." Kerry smiled, this was the voice she loved.

"Good morning Draco." She turned to look at him as he sat up.

"How are you?" Draco sounded slightly worried.

"Absolutely fine low actually. I feel normal again now. No pains anywhere." Kerry smiled.

"I can't believe Pansy would do that. She was always so jealous."

"I know." Replied Kerry. "That's just how it is. How long have you been here?"

"Since about six. It's nearing eight now if you want to get up."

"Cool. I just want to act normal. Missing a whole day of classes would draw attention."

"Yeh maybe. I'll ask madam Pomfrey if you can leave". Draco got up and kissed Kerry's hand before going to the small office at the end of the wing.

She heard small voices and then Draco came back out of the office.

"It's all cool. Madam Pomfrey will be out in a minute to give you some potion and then you can go."

"That's good." Kerry answered. They waited in a small silence for a coupe of minutes and then Madam Pomfrey came out with a vial.

"I'm glad your better dear. Now drink this and I'll send you on your way." She smiled at Kerry as she took the potion and drank it.

"Thank you Madam Pomfrey." Kerry got out of the bed and madam Pomfrey handed her some fresh uniform. Kerry went away, put then on and took Draco's hand.

"Don't be too active." Madam Pomfrey laughed. "Take it easy for today and then you will as right as rain tomorrow."

"Will do. Thanks." Kerry and Draco walked hand in hand in hand down to the great hall for breakfast.

They entered the hall and went over to the Slytherin table. Kerry saw Pansy and gave her a sarcastic smile and wave. Pansy glared evilly back.

As they sat down curiosity got the better of Kerry. "So what happened to Parkinson then?" She asked Draco.

"One month detention, 50 points from Slytherin and a bad howler that didn't seem to wait till breakfast. She received it in the common room this morning. It was so funny." Kerry giggled to herself and looked over at Pansy. "The other girls had the same. It was ten points each and that's what made it to 50 points gone."

"Good. They don't cross me and get away with it. She wanted me to break up with you and let her have you instead. I refused and ended up in the hospital wing." Kerry shrugged. "She can't 'beat me' and force me to do it. I'm not some sleeve who will dump their boyfriend because of a lousy threat from a jealous bitch."

"Well I'm glad babe." Draco turned Kerry's face to look and his and he kissed her on the lips softly. "Don't ever change Kerry." She laughed.

"Oh Draco. I won't but please don't go all soppy on me." Kerry looked at Draco's watch and saw that it was 8:30am.

"I don't want to be late for class, I'm gonna quickly go and get my bag from my dorm." Kerry got up and kissed Draco on the cheek. "I'll meet you in potions." Kerry rushed out of the great hall and down to the dungeons. She quickly ran into her dorm and grabbed her bag. She quickly fixed her hair and mascara and left the dorms and common room.
