For the past few days I had been dreading seeing Luke after school on Friday. He's never been to the new place and I don't want him to know where I live now. But he needed to grab his box of crap. Luke was supposed to be here at around 3:30 but it was already four and he hasn't shown up.
I sat on the couch chewing on my nails, waiting for his car to pull up in my driveway. How long does it take to find where I live? It shouldn't take that long. Finally, I heard the sound of a car engine, then a soft knock at the front door.
Luke stood on the other side of the door looking with a smile on his face. What was he so happy about?
"You wanted to see me," he said.
I opened the door wider and stepped back.
He shoved his hands in his pocket and walked in. Luke followed me as I walked into the living room.
"Here's some stuff you left at my old house," I said handing him the box. He frowned at it, finally realizing what this meant.
"This is what you called me over here for?"
"What did you think I called you for?"
He shrugged. "I don't know. I thought you wanted to give us another shot."
Another shot? How could he think that I wanted to still be with him? Wasn't it clear that I didn't want to be with him when I said no all those other times. Or that I was moving on from him when I was dating Chris. I swear, boys could be so stupid.
"No. Why would I?" I asked shocked.
"I don't know, I guess I was hoping. I've changed-"
"No you haven't!" I interrupted him mid sentence "You're still sleeping around and dating a bunch of other girls."
"I can stop," he said.
"No you can't. If you really wanted to be with me you wouldn't have cheated on me."
Luke sighed. "If you give me another chance, I promise that won't happen again."
"What if I don't want to give you another chance? Tell me why should I?"
"Because, I know you still have feelings for me."
"Those feelings went away a long time ago."
"When?" he asked.
"When you thought you got another girl pregnant!" I screamed. My fists were clenched at my sides and I was breathing hard.
Luke didn't know what to say. Pain flashed across his eyes but it quickly disappeared.
"She didn't mean anything to me," he finally said.
"Really? Well if she meant nothing and I meant everything, then why did you do it? Wait, don't answer that because I already know. I wouldn't give it up. But your little friend would," I added sarcastically. "I told you from the beginning I wasn't like that."
Luke stood in silence. He looked down at the box in his hands. "Well I better get going then," he said.
I nodded and walked him to the front door. Luke walked outside towards his car, I was about to close the door but he turned around and surprised me with his next four words.
"I really am sorry."
I walked back into the living and sat down on the couch. I pulled my knee's up and cried while slowly rocking myself back and forth. I heard footsteps making their way into the living room. I knew it wasn't Molly, the footsteps were like large thuds. It could only be one person. Logan.
