Chapter 16

---Flashback---

*Cody's POV*

I sat beside the bed holding Heather's hand until I felt her hand move. I shot up from my seat and smiled at her.

"Heather?! Please wake up!"

"What happened?" Austin asked.

"She moved. I felt it."

I ran out to get the doctor and came back in with him and he checked on her while I sat anxiously.

"Well she's awaken now but she did have quite a concussion so she may not remember much."

"So you're saying she may not remember any of us?"

"That's correct."

I've been here forever waiting for her to wake up, and when she does, she's not gonna remember me?

--Present Time--

*Ashlee's POV*

I can't believe this. She's not gonna remember any of us? I've been her friend forever, how much memory could she lose?

"How much of her memory did she lose?"

"Well, considering the crash was pretty hard and rough, I'm gonna say around four to five maybe."

"Months?"

"Years."

I've been with Heather since before we started school. She has to remember me.

"Well, if she wakes up, let me know."

"Thanks doctor."

He walked out and Cody broke down right then and there on the floor. I could tell what he was going through. It happened to me once with my cousin, but I really hope Heather remembers me. We've been with each other forever.

*Heather's POV*

I slowly woke up but I couldn't see nothing but darkness until I opened my eyes. I saw four people. One was the doctor, then Ashlee, but, I didn't know the other two guys.

"W-who are they?" I asked pointing to the strangers in the corner.

"Um, that's Cody, and that's Austin." Ashlee said, pointing to each of them.

"What are they doing here?"

"They came to visit. You dont remember either of them?"

I shook my head kinda scared of what was going on. I don't know them, but how do they know me?

"Ok. You and Cody have been friends for around four years and you two have been dating for over a year."

I don't remember having a boyfriend. My last boyfriend was in eighth grade I think.

"Sorry but I wouldn't try telling her about some of this stuff. She could get really confused and it could do more damage in her brain." The doctor told her.

"Ok. Sorry. When will she be able to get out?"

"We may keep her overnight for observations maybe then she should be able to leave."

Overnight?! I can barely take this place in the day. I'm not a big fan of hospitals. I just wanna leave now.

"Alright."

*Ashlee's POV*

I stayed with Heather for quite a while just talking about random things and her asking questions about stuff. Cody stayed also but Austin got tired.

"Hey, Ash. I'm gonna head home, ok? Call me if something happens."

"I will."

He smiled a little and pecked my cheek saying bye to Cody and Heather and walked out.

"What was that about?" Heather asked me.

"What?"

"He kissed you on the cheek? What's up with you two?"

Should I tell her? Then again, she doesn't know him. But she said the last boyfriend she remembered was in eighth grade and that was Austin. I'll see what happens.

"Austin's my boyfriend."

Cody's head shot up amd Heather looked at me with wide eyes and a small smile.

"Since when?"

"A while but we've had an on/off relationship."

"Oh. He looks familiar. Am I sure I don't know him?"

"You don't. You haven't known him long."

"Oh, ok. But I think he's good for you. He seems nice in the small amount of time we talked."

"Yeah he is when you really get to know him."

"I bet."

"Yeah. I'm gonna head off now but if you need something, call me or ask Cody."

"Ok."

I smiled and walked out. I'm just wondering if telling her about Austin and I was a good thing or not. I hope so since she doesn't remember him that much.

*Cody's POV*

I was with Heather the rest of the day and I sat talking with her and I kinda had to re-introduce myself to her but I was fine with it. I just want the Heather I used to know back. We talked about lots of things and some stuff that's going on in school but I left out things about Austin and Ashlee. The last thing I remember was falling asleep on the couch.

---Next Day---

*Heather's POV*

I woke up to the bright morning sun coming in the room and shut my eyes again and Cody was awake and obviously saw so he closed the blinds and curtains.

"I already ordered your breakfast for you."

"Thanks. How'd you know what I want though?"

"You may not remember me, but I still know you."

"Were you here all night?"

"Yeah. I couldn't leave you alone."

"You could've left it was fine."

"I wasn't leaving you."

"Ok, ok. I'm sorry."

"It's fine."

I smiled and laid there on the bed and looked through my phone and I saw tons of pictures of me with Cody. One's on dates, others just us being around each other. I saw some of me and Ashlee and smiled then my eyes widened and I realized everything.

"Cody?"

"Yeah?"

"I remember."
