Chapter 22

*Ashlee's POV*

I woke up the next morning to text from Austin.

Austin:

Can you meet me somewhere today?

Why would I wanna meet him anywhere? I don't know if I should. Gosh, why is everything so hard? I decided against it.

I'm sorry, I can't.

I hope I made the right choice. Although, I'm kinda curious as to what he wants.

Austin:

Why not? It's important.

What could be so important that he needs me for? I don't want him back. Not for a while, at least.

*Austin's POV*

I really need to see her. It is important and I'm trying to get her back, that's why I need her to say yes. I sat there, waiting for her reply.

Ashlee:

What could be so important that you need me for?

I sighed. She is really making this difficult for me.

Just please...

I sent it just like that and waited... and waited... and waited.. until finally I got the reply I wanted.

Ashlee:

Fine, I'll come.

I smiled widely then texted her when and where to meet me at. Hopefully, this will go well. It needs to be perfect. Especially for Ashlee. I got up and left my house and went to the place Ashlee was meeting me to make sure everything was in its place. I mean, I know I messed up, but I wouldn't have just forgotten her birthday.

*Ashlee's POV*

I went downstairs and all the lights were off, so I couldn't see other from the sun coming in from the window. What happened? I walked to the switch and turned it on and saw a bunch of people jump up and yell 'Surprise!' to me. I'm such an idiot. I completely forgot it was my own birthday. I just never bother to check the date.

"Oh my god. I can't believe you guys did this!"

I smiled and my mom walked up to me.

"Happy birthday, sweetie. I can't believe you're seventeen."

"Thanks, mom. I'm pretty sure you'll be worse than this when I'm eighteen."

"I probably will. But still.."

"I know."

I smiled and hugged her tightly. I pulled away and looked to see who all came. I saw Heather, Cody, Samantha, and a lot more of my friends. I hugged everyone, thanking them for coming and looked around, noticing one person not here: Austin. He wouldn't forget my birthday, I know he wouldn't. But considering all that's happened, he probably didn't come or get invited. Maybe that's why he wants me to meet him later. I don't know.

After the party, I hugged everyone again and thanked them for coming. I smiled and cleaned everything up and put my gifts up, which included a surprise cruise for two from my mom that I can't wait for, and changed into some shorts and a tank top with my vans and brushed my hair out letting it hang down and walked downstairs.

"Going somewhere, Ashlee?"

"Uh, yeah. Samantha wanted to hang out."

"Oh, ok. Have fun!"

"I will. Bye!"

I smiled and walked out, heading to the place Austin told me to. He said it was where we had our date at.

Once I got there, my eyes got instantly covered and I screamed until I heard Austin.

"Calm down, it's just me. Just keep going I'll tell you when to stop."

"You're not re-creating our date are you?"

"No, this is different."

"Ok."

I kept walking for a while until he told me to stop.

"Ok, ready?"

"Yeah."

He uncovered my eyes and right under the tree, by the lake, was a little party set up just for me.

"You did all this?"

"All for you."

I smiled widely. "I can't believe it."

"You didn't think I'd forget your birthday?"

"No, I knew you would remember it. My mom and friends threw a surprise party for me."

"Wow. And I wasn't even invited?"

"Guess not. Sorry."

"It's ok. I had more time to do all this."

"Yeah. This is so cool."

"Happy birthday, Ashlee."

"Thanks, Austin."

"Listen, I'm sorry about the bet and everything that happened. I didn't mean any of it, I swear. I love you."

"Austin, I-"

"I'm sorry for bringing it up, but I had to. I did all this so maybe you'd forgive me."

"Austin, I- I don't know what to say."

"Anything.."

"Umm..."
